Horological Meandering

Dear Members, after a short discussion on the Independent Forum, I was asked from a dear Member, to make a short pool: What would be your favourite Purists XVth Anniversary watch, or at least: would you mind if we get a special Purists watch? Any idea is ...  

Limited to 178 pieces, budget around €5.000 per pop or thereabouts, so enough members can participate. Some brands mentioned were Dornblüth, Habring and Ochs & Junior. Many other possibilities, I am sure. Curious if there\'s demand for a 15th anniversary ... 

but unfortunately not real. In order to make 178 pieces Dirk will require 3-4 years.

The same would go for Habring - probably two full years of production... Thinking aloud, how about several manufacturers making 15 pieces each? This would provide members with more choice (also allow for different price levels) and allow smaller manufactu... 

The question is partly how certain the manufacturer is to sell the complete stock produced and partly in customization. Some may have little difficulty with customizing, as it comes at no extra cost. Maybe several manufacturers propositioned, each getting... 

All these sound great. Needs some thought as to what it should be exactly...but the direction of the conversation is definitely interesting! Best E.

I am liking already Do you think we will really get 178 takers? Difficult for these small manufactures to produce that number. MB would be a great option, but producing a Minerva for that price would probably be impossible... Tudor, would be great too... ... 

May be a bit above in price but we could get quite some takers. If it is smaller manufacturers like Ochs & Junior, it would have to be less than 178 pieces, as they would be occupied for too long (if they were not to completely abandon their regular busin...

The new Datejust 40 mm PuristSPro Edition. Ha! That would be cool. They only have to make a special dial. Or just replace the rehaut Rolex with a rehaut PuristSPro

They add the complication to the outsourced movement. But hey; Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Panerai, Tudor, Sarpaneva, Cartier, etc, etc, etc have done and/or are doing the same. So is that really such big a deal?

What we need first is a confirmed number of serious participants before we can go ask a brand for a quotation and possibilities.

... as much as I like the couple and consider them my personal friends. But they made the special watch for Timezone (a stunning piece, by the way), and it would appear a bit weird if PuristSPro would copy that. Tudor would be my vote as well: Solid, horo...

Would not mind at all, and the movement fits the case. Cathedral hands? But you are right, maybe something else. Was just an idea to keep costs in check and get something unique these days

But would be happy to accept a larger size if that is where the majority leans towards...

What better way to celebrate than a Minerva movement?

A manual winder at a lower price point could be the ticket.

. . . would be a shoo-in. And keep it ~ 38 mm, please . . . as close to the original designs as possible. Steel, Mk 11 inspired black dial, display back, and four figures $US. I can think of a few other possibilities, but none better. Art ...  

I happen to own exactly this piece, its 40mm, here with a white gold case: Still the old Cal. 48, nicely decorated: A keeper, for sure! If a PPro watch would come out like this with the current calibre revision - a dream! Magnus ...

Nice layout, I acknowledge classic elegance. Though, I would like to see a bit more texture like a sunburst dial or applied numerals. As far as it concerns your comment about the case/movement ratio, I see your point. BR, Kolosstt

A decently finished manual wind Minerva MB in a decent size... I\'d sign up immediately (almost) immediately. Please make it happen! PuristS JLC would also be very tempting...

And even if MB agress to make under Minerva, they dont have enough of the vintage Minerva badged dials Best, Horo

Why not a special edition of the 1937? With some slight modifications, it might yet become (another) community watch made by them. This base model could offer: 1/ capability of higher production numbers and more affordable price range 2/ while having a ni...

They have already done a special PuristSPro edition of the 1963 hand wound chrono in 49 units...

I am very SCEPTIC. There was a Roll Call at a german watch forum for a limited Panerai forum watch and despite of the over 250 fix members and the super connections of the leaders of the forum, NOTHING HAPPENED.

Panerai did a LE for the Russian forum (70 psc), the price was 7000 euro.

Before ruling out any brand, I would ask them. The worst they can say is no they could not. Another idea is RGM...801 manufacture caliber?

Some dial and hands customization. Time only is fine although at that price point, what independent and produce 178 watches in a year?

The thought of a Montblanc, or a Chopard, or - Be still, my heart! - a JLC manual movement has me salivating. A simple 3-hand perhaps? I don't want to muddy the waters, but would Omega be approachable for its nice co-axial? Ok, that's an automatic, so pro...

Dress watch base versus a sports watch.

Small German company that makes steel, manual, dress watches with gorgeous dials. Just sayin'

But what about GS? I like the choices provided so far, and the provided choices of Tudor JLC are very nice. However, several times I have read that GS offers one of the best price quality products. Wouldn\'t it be possible to have GS manufacture a watch b... 

But not sure we would get 178 takers or that they would do one. They do limited editions (as small as 30 pcs) but so far it has been largely only for their major retailers, IIRC.

I think now it is getting interesting and probably there will be enough members to get our new Anniversary watch! We must at least one basic issue decide: should be the watch a classy dresser or a sporty one? I think we must make a doodle vote on a new th...

I'm fairly sure they would play and we could get a manual wind, time only watch at a price level more reachable to more members...hmm, a black dial Nomos with PuristsPro dedication for maybe 2-3k...I could see me playing. CC

One that I will happily second...especially the reachability part...more members can get it and it would be meeting the expectations of most.

To make sure we get a reasonable number of watches taken. Brands? Of course independents would be interesting. Maybe we ask a few of them for a proposal, 10 pcs each. From the big brands, I am inclined to Jaeger and Girard Perregaux . Of course anything r...

Depending of what we could get for the price cap, I'm in. Tudor, Nomos, Montblanc could provide something very cool. Especially Montblanc, I give my vote for a nice manual wound villeret caliber. Jaeger Lecoultre would be, I think above if the price is 5k...

Back. First it would allow for engraving a purist logo if desired for extra fee and also the classical Reversos might be more attractive to our lady members/significant others thus perhaps guaranteeing greater number of sales.

We might convince them for a special dial.

For some reason you raised your hand for 9 or 19, exactly like I did a couple of days back!?.. So, if you and me could mutually agree on who gets which number eventually, that might be great for me. I\'m a bit worried if number of posts would supersede. H... 

So two possibilities: 1/ you get the 1st right of choice, and I take the other one left. Or 2/ I choose completely different numbers. (Although these first mentioned are my favs,) I can as well chose 8 or 18, 29 or 59.. - Simply tell me, what you like bet...

That would be a significant movement ( almost as significant as PPro ;-)), would come at an attractive price point, we could ask whether we could get an option of an elegant and a sporty model, plus Zenith (with JCB in the back) would certainly be open an... 

Of the sportier or more elegant variety? Definitely has appeal IMHO

Since they did one for us previously, I am hoping Chopard can do this one for us again. LUC 1.96 movement at 37~39mm case in steel or titanium would be amazing! I

But also way beyond the €5-7k range, I recon. Even the 1937 is and that does not have the 1.96...

Just not Nomos for the selfish reason there are just too many limited edition on the brand. Feel kinda lost in a sea of limited Nomos Best Tyler

There have been quite a few watch ideas thrown around. Why do we not take those ideas, present them to watchmakers spoken about, see if they are interested and can build these watches, get design proposals, and cost. I remember ordering a number of custom... 

Several of you have been through this journey before with the ABR, Paul Gerber, Bulgari, Chopard... What are the next steps to get the ball rolling?

XVth anniversary watch! Love the idea. JLC Reverso in a slightly affordable price range would be perfect. There's plenty of other brands to consider too. Or what about smaller Indies like Pita, RGM, Bremont which no watch community have collaborated with ... 

Then I am absolutely sure we are heading towards a 15th anniversary edition
