Purists XVth Anniversary Watch

 By: Speedie74 aka Mr. Torquise : February 7th, 2016-04:04
Dear Members, after a short discussion on the Independent Forum, I was asked from a dear Member, to make a short pool: What would be your favourite Purists XVth Anniversary watch, or at least: would you mind if we get a special Purists watch? Any idea is ...

The first ideas discussed were...

 By: KMII : February 7th, 2016-04:17
Limited to 178 pieces, budget around €5.000 per pop or thereabouts, so enough members can participate. Some brands mentioned were Dornblüth, Habring and Ochs & Junior. Many other possibilities, I am sure. Curious if there\'s demand for a 15th anniversary ...

Dornblüth is a greath idea,

 By: Rubar : February 7th, 2016-05:30
but unfortunately not real. In order to make 178 pieces Dirk will require 3-4 years.

I suppose you are right...

 By: KMII : February 7th, 2016-06:17
The same would go for Habring - probably two full years of production... Thinking aloud, how about several manufacturers making 15 pieces each? This would provide members with more choice (also allow for different price levels) and allow smaller manufactu...

Very interestingly! [nt]

 By: Rubar : February 7th, 2016-07:02

That depends...

 By: KMII : February 7th, 2016-07:32
The question is partly how certain the manufacturer is to sell the complete stock produced and partly in customization. Some may have little difficulty with customizing, as it comes at no extra cost. Maybe several manufacturers propositioned, each getting...

I'll bite

 By: Esharp : February 7th, 2016-06:05
All these sound great. Needs some thought as to what it should be exactly...but the direction of the conversation is definitely interesting! Best E.

Let's hope many bite :)

 By: KMII : February 7th, 2016-07:59
Would be a lovely anniversary idea!

Ooooh... Ochs & Junior!

 By: andrewluff : February 7th, 2016-12:16
I am liking already Do you think we will really get 178 takers? Difficult for these small manufactures to produce that number. MB would be a great option, but producing a Minerva for that price would probably be impossible... Tudor, would be great too... ...

Reverso is an option...

 By: KMII : February 7th, 2016-12:34
May be a bit above in price but we could get quite some takers. If it is smaller manufacturers like Ochs & Junior, it would have to be less than 178 pieces, as they would be occupied for too long (if they were not to completely abandon their regular busin...

I'd opt for Dornblüth

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : February 7th, 2016-04:30
...

A BEAUTY! [nt]

 By: Speedie74 aka Mr. Torquise : February 7th, 2016-04:33

Or you know what?! Let's ask Rolex!

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : February 7th, 2016-04:33
The new Datejust 40 mm PuristSPro Edition. Ha! That would be cool. They only have to make a special dial. Or just replace the rehaut Rolex with a rehaut PuristSPro

Hihi! Good Idea!

 By: Speedie74 aka Mr. Torquise : February 7th, 2016-04:38
It would be the RAREST Rolex all time with 175 pieces...

Why not? They have done pizza dials for gods sake...

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : February 7th, 2016-04:45
...

Rolex won't accept... [nt]

 By: amanico : February 7th, 2016-10:24

Or what about a Christiaan van Der Klaauw Ceres?

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : February 7th, 2016-05:33
They could be of service as they do custom watches... ...

Van der Klaauw produced beautiful watches, but

 By: Speedie74 aka Mr. Torquise : February 7th, 2016-07:09
they don't have manufactural movements, if I am right.

Correct

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : February 7th, 2016-08:47
They add the complication to the outsourced movement. But hey; Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Panerai, Tudor, Sarpaneva, Cartier, etc, etc, etc have done and/or are doing the same. So is that really such big a deal?

JS Watch Co., of Reykjavik? [nt]

 By: TheMadDruid : February 7th, 2016-05:45

Tudor would be an interesting option. We'd go way below 5 K euros, without...

 By: amanico : February 7th, 2016-08:51
Compromise with quality. Habring, why not? Rolex? Not sure they will accept to play the game. JLC? I have to ask. I don't know. The thing is that we should be quite a lot to want the same thing, which is the main issue, I fear. Best, Nicolas

Tudor and JLC are both interesting options!

 By: KMII : February 7th, 2016-08:54
And I guess if anyone can get the brands to make a special version, PuristSPro can

A JLC under 5k?? -nt [nt]

 By: Marcus Hanke : February 7th, 2016-11:14

Or just above... [nt]

 By: amanico : February 7th, 2016-11:52

Indeed

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : February 7th, 2016-09:07
What we need first is a confirmed number of serious participants before we can go ask a brand for a quotation and possibilities.

Not Habring ...

 By: Marcus Hanke : February 7th, 2016-11:13
... as much as I like the couple and consider them my personal friends. But they made the special watch for Timezone (a stunning piece, by the way), and it would appear a bit weird if PuristSPro would copy that. Tudor would be my vote as well: Solid, horo...

Roll Call

 By: Speedie74 aka Mr. Torquise : February 7th, 2016-10:13
1. Speedie 74

I'm in :)

 By: KMII : February 7th, 2016-10:16
2. KMII With maybe the numerals 1, 7 and 8 being differentiated from the rest

I'm in also...

 By: rnaden : February 7th, 2016-17:59
Liking all the ideas so far

That WOULD BE THE GREATEST IDEA!

 By: Speedie74 aka Mr. Torquise : February 7th, 2016-10:24
Honestly, I have also thought about it, because there was already a Timezone Minerva watch!!!

We have some good and influent relations at Montblanc... I am pretty sure it could work.

 By: amanico : February 7th, 2016-10:27
I just have the feeling MB won't deliver 178 watches, but 50, most certainly. If enough of us are interested, we can always speak with the Wizard of Oz... He's a good friend. Nicolas

First 50, first come to serve! [nt]

 By: Speedie74 aka Mr. Torquise : February 7th, 2016-10:28

Do you like it? [nt]

 By: amanico : February 7th, 2016-11:50

I certainly do - a lot!

 By: KMII : February 7th, 2016-11:54
With a Cal. 48 movement?

Cal. 48 is a very small movement, if I recall correctly ...

 By: Marcus Hanke : February 8th, 2016-06:57
... and we should not simply reinvent the Pythagore. Marcus

At 38mm?

 By: KMII : February 8th, 2016-09:38
Would not mind at all, and the movement fits the case. Cathedral hands? But you are right, maybe something else. Was just an idea to keep costs in check and get something unique these days

+1

 By: KMII : February 8th, 2016-12:29
But would be happy to accept a larger size if that is where the majority leans towards...

This is a wonderful idea!

 By: WYK : February 8th, 2016-19:41
What better way to celebrate than a Minerva movement?

I was thinking MB too. We see 1858 SS chronograph is already becoming a PuristS edition.

 By: MichaelC : February 7th, 2016-11:37
A manual winder at a lower price point could be the ticket.

A Villeret iteration of the Mk 11 genre . . .

 By: Dr No : February 8th, 2016-17:35
. . . would be a shoo-in. And keep it ~ 38 mm, please . . . as close to the original designs as possible. Steel, Mk 11 inspired black dial, display back, and four figures $US. I can think of a few other possibilities, but none better. Art ...

I see what you want...

 By: Ornatus-Mundi : February 9th, 2016-12:27
I happen to own exactly this piece, its 40mm, here with a white gold case: Still the old Cal. 48, nicely decorated: A keeper, for sure! If a PPro watch would come out like this with the current calibre revision - a dream! Magnus ...

I think many of us could get behind such a beauty :)

 By: KMII : February 9th, 2016-14:48
Wonderful watch, wonderful pictures!

But you see how tiny the movement is ...

 By: Marcus Hanke : February 10th, 2016-00:50
... compared with the watch case itself. Honestly, I would rather prefer a watch where the movement is somewhat more proportionate to its case. Other than that, your Minverva is stunningly beautiful, I love that dial! Marcus

If the dial could just have a bit more depth...

 By: kolosstt : February 10th, 2016-21:21
Nice layout, I acknowledge classic elegance. Though, I would like to see a bit more texture like a sunburst dial or applied numerals. As far as it concerns your comment about the case/movement ratio, I see your point. BR, Kolosstt

Wonderful idea!

 By: KMII : February 7th, 2016-11:47
If numbers are being reserved I would like #23.

Very interesting.

 By: willski : February 7th, 2016-16:31
A decently finished manual wind Minerva MB in a decent size... I\'d sign up immediately (almost) immediately. Please make it happen! PuristS JLC would also be very tempting...

Minerva under the Freys did a TZ watch too

 By: Hororgasm : February 12th, 2016-05:13
And even if MB agress to make under Minerva, they dont have enough of the vintage Minerva badged dials Best, Horo

I'm in too

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : February 7th, 2016-10:59
opting for #28

9 or 19 please. ;) [nt]

 By: kolosstt : February 7th, 2016-11:13

Remembering a fresh post in the Chopard forum:

 By: kolosstt : February 7th, 2016-11:12
Why not a special edition of the 1937? With some slight modifications, it might yet become (another) community watch made by them. This base model could offer: 1/ capability of higher production numbers and more affordable price range 2/ while having a ni...

Ok, making a hand wound out of an automatic should not be a show stopper...

 By: kolosstt : February 7th, 2016-12:08
Are the moderators already discussing in the background anything? ...inquisitive me...

Also a possibility...

 By: KMII : February 7th, 2016-11:55
They have already done a special PuristSPro edition of the 1963 hand wound chrono in 49 units...

Would be a great idea, BUT

 By: Speedie74 aka Mr. Torquise : February 7th, 2016-12:19
I am very SCEPTIC. There was a Roll Call at a german watch forum for a limited Panerai forum watch and despite of the over 250 fix members and the super connections of the leaders of the forum, NOTHING HAPPENED.

Food for thought...

 By: Rubar : February 7th, 2016-13:20
Panerai did a LE for the Russian forum (70 psc), the price was 7000 euro.

I think that several independent watchmakers would be happy to be involved in such project

 By: foversta : February 7th, 2016-13:35
It would be good to progress on the topic before Baselworld. Fx

+1, Fx. [nt]

 By: amanico : February 7th, 2016-13:37

All good ideas.

 By: big daddy : February 7th, 2016-17:12
Before ruling out any brand, I would ask them. The worst they can say is no they could not. Another idea is RGM...801 manufacture caliber?

I would be in if the price is around 5K. USD(close enough to the Euro) and there would be.

 By: Ronald Held : February 7th, 2016-13:36
Some dial and hands customization. Time only is fine although at that price point, what independent and produce 178 watches in a year?

+1,

 By: Rubar : February 7th, 2016-13:54
but why 178 pcs.?

Thanks,

 By: Rubar : February 7th, 2016-14:12
now i know lucky number

Another one here for 5K-7K Euro range!

 By: Ano Nuevo : February 7th, 2016-14:10
The thought of a Montblanc, or a Chopard, or - Be still, my heart! - a JLC manual movement has me salivating. A simple 3-hand perhaps? I don't want to muddy the waters, but would Omega be approachable for its nice co-axial? Ok, that's an automatic, so pro...

Excitement can be dangerous!

 By: Ano Nuevo : February 7th, 2016-14:14
Luckily, I took my blood pressure medicine prior to reading this thread, Nico. A smoothly circulating Ano Nuevo

There is a manual Omega co-axial

 By: KMII : February 7th, 2016-19:58
In the DeVille Tresor - currently only in gold cases.

Good, I would also like that one in a steel case with a special dial.

 By: Marcus Hanke : February 8th, 2016-07:00
However, Omega is possibly too big for a small community-exclusive edition. Marcus

Independent , Tudor ,JLC ...if possible

 By: Chrisparet : February 7th, 2016-14:29
in the price range ..they all seem perfect for me By the way a great idea I do hope It will work ! Christian

Tudor Black Bay

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : February 7th, 2016-14:51
DIAL SIDE Drop the "rotor" and "self winding" and in its place print "PuristSPro" (in a straight line). CASEBACK Engrave: - Anniversary Edition x/xx - PuristSPro 2001 - 2016 ...

Define a specifications,

 By: ninolitaliano : February 7th, 2016-15:51
I can be of the adventure Cheers

Love this idea....

 By: darmatgre-1 : February 7th, 2016-20:40
Maybe Tudor would create a Black Bay with their manufacture movement - I would be very interested in such a project. Darren

If it could meet this criteria, I would be in.

 By: kolosstt : February 7th, 2016-23:04
With only an engraving and dial print, I think we could do better. ^^

You can also remove auto winding. Just let 200 m / 660 Feet.

 By: amanico : February 7th, 2016-22:39
And , on the case back, the website engravings, with the xxx / 178. The PuristS Rule: Less is more. Best, Nicolas

+1 for the black bay!

 By: nitediver : February 9th, 2016-02:36
Cool idea! Stefan

What a lovely idea! [nt]

 By: azrael : February 10th, 2016-08:44

How about the Tudor North Flag

 By: cazalea : February 12th, 2016-11:18
It has a new movement, a power reserve complication, nice bracelet, low price point - it\'s an interesting look too. Cazalea

GTG also....

While talking about a watch, how about another global GTG?

Good idea but should be its own thread. Rather see it be a....

Dress watch base versus a sports watch.

How about Jaeger & Benziger?

 By: TheMadDruid : February 7th, 2016-17:49
Small German company that makes steel, manual, dress watches with gorgeous dials. Just sayin'

I may be out on a limb here.....

 By: sc16 : February 7th, 2016-19:43
But what about GS? I like the choices provided so far, and the provided choices of Tudor JLC are very nice. However, several times I have read that GS offers one of the best price quality products. Wouldn\'t it be possible to have GS manufacture a watch b...

I'd go for a hand wind GS in a heartbeat...

 By: KMII : February 7th, 2016-20:01
But not sure we would get 178 takers or that they would do one. They do limited editions (as small as 30 pcs) but so far it has been largely only for their major retailers, IIRC.

Dear Members,

 By: Speedie74 aka Mr. Torquise : February 7th, 2016-22:48
I think now it is getting interesting and probably there will be enough members to get our new Anniversary watch! We must at least one basic issue decide: should be the watch a classy dresser or a sporty one? I think we must make a doodle vote on a new th...

I wouldn't object :-)

LOLOL! [nt]

Definitely an intriguing idea! +1 [nt]

 By: Horologically_minded : February 8th, 2016-02:26

Maybe Nomos?

 By: crown comfort : February 8th, 2016-03:04
I'm fairly sure they would play and we could get a manual wind, time only watch at a price level more reachable to more members...hmm, a black dial Nomos with PuristsPro dedication for maybe 2-3k...I could see me playing. CC

Was thinking the same...

 By: KMII : February 8th, 2016-04:54
For them it should be easy enough

That's a very good proposition

 By: rnaden : February 8th, 2016-06:34
One that I will happily second...especially the reachability part...more members can get it and it would be meeting the expectations of most.

Excellent idea since I'd see Nomos as a fit for this purpose

 By: kolosstt : February 8th, 2016-12:02
On the other side, Nomos made and makes endless special editions, don\'t they? It feels like each Wempe shop has one. I would want the PuristS watch to be as special as this forum actually is. How would such Nomos look like? Cheers

Interesting Idea....price of 5 k seems good

 By: nitediver : February 8th, 2016-07:27
To make sure we get a reasonable number of watches taken. Brands? Of course independents would be interesting. Maybe we ask a few of them for a proposal, 10 pcs each. From the big brands, I am inclined to Jaeger and Girard Perregaux . Of course anything r...

MB would be interesting

 By: 41northpole : February 8th, 2016-07:56
something like the heritage chronograph, but time only and steel? Tim

Nice project

 By: Tyo : February 8th, 2016-09:29
Depending of what we could get for the price cap, I'm in. Tudor, Nomos, Montblanc could provide something very cool. Especially Montblanc, I give my vote for a nice manual wound villeret caliber. Jaeger Lecoultre would be, I think above if the price is 5k...

Or since the site has a global coverage , how about a WT?

 By: Tyo : February 9th, 2016-02:21
Nomos Zurich Weltzeit blue with special dial? Jaeger lecoultre totally new, UT and a ultra thin case manual winding?

Omega Speedmaster PPro?

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : February 9th, 2016-03:55
Would they?

Interesting...

 By: KMII : February 9th, 2016-05:13
Only instead of \'What would you do in 14 seconds?\' It should read \'where are you checking 14 hours a day?\'

LOL [nt]

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : February 9th, 2016-05:30

Haha! Very true. [nt]

 By: Luis6 : February 10th, 2016-18:09

Greetings. I would suggest. JLC Reverso in steel and manual movement with a solid case

 By: Mitch K : February 10th, 2016-13:07
Back. First it would allow for engraving a purist logo if desired for extra fee and also the classical Reversos might be more attractive to our lady members/significant others thus perhaps guaranteeing greater number of sales.

Now that is an idea... [nt]

 By: amanico : February 10th, 2016-13:51

Let's start a movement. [nt]

 By: Mitch K : February 10th, 2016-21:15

That would be under € 7K? (nt)

 By: Ronald Held : February 10th, 2016-17:34
NT

Was looking at Reversos ever since a maniac brought up JLC for the price range.

 By: kolosstt : February 10th, 2016-21:14
Glad that you bring the Reverso on the table and I support your idea of a more unisex model. On the other side, I like panorama backs. Maybe we could engrave the sapphire or put ,PuristS\' on one of the movement plates? Cheers, Kolosstt.

Hmmhh.. Around 5k or bit above/ Time only.. MB /Villeret mvmt above sounded nice, Nomos & some others mentioned, ok.. :))

 By: hs111 : February 11th, 2016-07:44

this is an international forum. Not sure it could come in under 5,000 euros though?

How about a Zenith El Primero?

 By: Ornatus-Mundi : February 12th, 2016-02:08
That would be a significant movement ( almost as significant as PPro ;-)), would come at an attractive price point, we could ask whether we could get an option of an elegant and a sporty model, plus Zenith (with JCB in the back) would certainly be open an...

Hmmm, without date??? ;) [nt]

Of the sportier or more elegant variety? Definitely has appeal IMHO

Both ;-)? [nt]

Chopard LUC 1.96

 By: Questlove : February 12th, 2016-12:51
Since they did one for us previously, I am hoping Chopard can do this one for us again. LUC 1.96 movement at 37~39mm case in steel or titanium would be amazing! I

It would be amazing...

There have been quite a few watch ideas thrown around. Why do we not take those ideas, present them to watchmakers spoken about, see if they are interested and can build these watches, get design proposals, and cost. I remember ordering a number of custom...

So what is the next step?

 By: KMII : February 17th, 2016-22:17
Several of you have been through this journey before with the ABR, Paul Gerber, Bulgari, Chopard... What are the next steps to get the ball rolling?

To get more people involved in the project(s).

Giving a bigger place to the Community, giving the opportunity to the community to talk and share what the community wants. Best, Nicolas

This is a great idea!

XVth anniversary watch! Love the idea. JLC Reverso in a slightly affordable price range would be perfect. There's plenty of other brands to consider too. Or what about smaller Indies like Pita, RGM, Bremont which no watch community have collaborated with ...

Where it belongs :)
