My own impression is that some brands may choose to use a vintage movement just to differentiate themselves from the ETA masses. Like you said, in some cases the vintage movement chosen is not particularly distinguished (in a mechanical sense) and it's just been "dressed up" without any new functional advantage.

Any opinions or thoughts on the quality of old GUB movements?

I am curious to know any thoughts or opinions of these old movements. Were these models known for their reliability and their design or more for their cost efficiency? Have they held up well over time, being good time keepers? Does it make sense to refurb...

I appreciate your comments and perspective on these older movements. I really haven't found to much on the net, so it's hard knowing how these movements were/are generally perceived. I also didn't realize there were so many examples of manufacturers updat...

really address your question directly, I got carried away with the subject... Speaking specifically of GUB (I am Not an expert), the only movements I have seen pictures of which look 'fine' on their own are a few very early post WWII movements which proba...
