Which one would you choose? A. Lange & Söhne 1815 Chronograph Boutique Edition Pulsometer (30 pulsations) in white gold , ref. 414.026 with caliber L951.5 Patek Philippe Chronograph, ref. 5170J-001 in yellow gold with Pulsometer dial (15 pulsations) and c...
The ALS is stunning indeed. But I really like the vintage charm of the PP, personally. So I would have a very hard time choosing, even if the ALS movement would probably win me over... Best, Emmanuel
1815 Chronograph in my opinion is one of the best Lange overall. It has finely decorated movement with stunning architecture and the watch is very wearable (not each Lange can be praised for it). If it had applied indices the watch would be 10/10. Patek i...
That said, I think Patek deliberately chooses to ignore this fact. I don’t think it’s a mistake at all: they know what they do and decide that the 5 increment is nicer looking or something like that. Best, Emmanuel
But if given the choice, I would prefer a later iteration of the 5170 over both of these, for example the 5170R or 5170G-010 (both with arabics and those gorgeous leaf hands). Cheers, Pieter
I happen to love the 5170J because of its unique vintage vibe and aesthetic, but I understand the preference for other more contemporary variants. Best, Emmanuel
but I definitely understand why one can prefer the ALS. I would choose the PP, though, because of my taste for vintage aesthetic and vibe. Best, Emmanuel
I would, for instance, be happier with the PP, even if the movement of the ALS is superior. But of course I fully understand your preference, which probably makes more sense. Best, Emmanuel
I understand that PP will always be “the watch”, but with the years my choice has changed; I also understand your point of view very well. All the best.
I generally prefer ALS aesthetics and I find the ALS movements to be more interesting and interestingly finished. I'm also put off by PP's general marketing approach and some of the odious things that the latest scion of the Stern family has said to the p...
It makes a lot of sense. But I personally respond to the vintage aesthetic of this 5170J a little more than to the design of the ALS (even if the movement is fantastic, of course). Best, Emmanuel
For me, the VC and the PP have great appeal front and back, whereas the ALS is much more attractive from the back than from the front. Just my perception of things, of course. Best, Emmanuel
