For the non WIS's who say a cellphone can show you the time.... or 'First world problems!'
I thought fellow enthusiasts might relate to, not sure if this is the right place to post!
I went away for the weekend recently, and after 30 minutes into my journey I realised I left my watch in my bedroom. It is cold in the UK, so with many layers being worn, I just assumed it was sitting on my wrist.
So I thought... oh well, it is not a huge deal, everyone keeps telling me the cellphone can tell the time too, so it won't be the end of the world. I do feel naked, but come on, it is a small issue in the big scheme of things....
But wow, I was lost! My phone is not always on my person. Sometimes in another room, sometimes buried inside a pocket....
'Right, I am hungry, lets see if its lunchtime'
(Look at wrist AGAIN, even though its the 10th time and I should know better!)
'Alright, let me check my phone for the time.... where is my bloody phone.... oh yes, bedroom... no, I must have moved it.... kitchen? No, not there..... AAAAARGH, all I want to know is what time it is!!!'
(There weren't any wall clocks where I was).
All through the weekend my timing was off, because nothing is as simple as just looking at your wrist!!!
What it did reassure me of though, is that regardless of all the new fads, technologies, wearables.... I will always want a mechanical timepiece! Never have to worry about recharging (manual winding is a pleasure not a chore) and doesn't take 2 hours (unless we are talking complicated PCs!!)
Anyway, quite a pointless post, but I thought fellow Purists could relate!
And of course, a photo shot of the reunited wrist and watch
Cheers, Imran
