Friends, It’s time to continue our little series of hidden GP gems from the 90s with Part III. I actually have shifted the order from what I had planned initially as for the watch I planned for Part III, some additional information may become available in...  

But, in this case, the date placement is really throwing the balance off. I don't usually complain about dates, like some other Purists, but this one somehow bothers me greatly. Otherwise, a really nice looking watch, with proportions I could live with. T... 

I'm with you on the date window here, but for me it would not be a dealbreaker, esp. not on the white dial.

You are really on a roll here with great articles! One note on this theme - GP started to make these Tri compax with similar design already in the 1940s... Through the 1950s and 1960s.... And even into the 1970s! This scan is from 1971: Long tradition of ...  

indeed, GP had some Chronographs back in the 40s and 50s and I think even in the 30s but probably only bi-compax. The official introduction of the "Vintage 1996" did say it was modelled after a Chronograph from 1960, so I think the second scan is a close ...

and many greetings to your nice country, let's hope things will get better very soon. I have done a detailed review of my Cambre Carree some time ago. I own Ref 2499, which is the two-register Chronograph. The 9012 you mentioned is an automatic Rattrapant...

Hi Micaels, if we look back, then we need to first mention the Ref 49580. 49580 was really the successor of the 4946. It slightly increased the case to 40mm and added a Fly-back function. It also dropped the box-shaped crystal. 49580 was available through...  

the date at 5... is like an assassin of good design, except in the rarest of dials (Blancpain, no idea why... works...) but there are reasons why these GP's have not been more appreciated... the auto-movements are just... sooo dated, even when they were r... 

I personally feel you are being a bit harsh on GP. Especially on those from the 90s, like the Chronograph I introduced here. I don't think the movement is small for a 36mm case and while it is modular, it remains an overall great design. As refreshing the... 

I was not referring to the 36mm. But I agree there is a promising future for GP movements, as you imply. I love this brand so much. They just need to step up a little quicker.
