Reference 7710 …

Friends,

Sharing a GP reference that most would not have heard of.

Reference 7710

Released in 1993 for 3 short months in a 34 mm case diameter (too small for my 18 cm wrist so it will be going to a deserving new home when I get down to it).

Though too small for me, I find this reference delightful. ❤️

Some History:

In 1993 (coincidentally the Acier number here as well), GP was using the Lemania 1873 manual-wind chronograph calibre in some watches. We remember the Richeville 2710 which also used the same calibre but was made in much larger quantities.

This one is Uber rare.

But GP management had a change of strategy and decided to make their chronos larger. Hence only 107 of these were made in full steel with 4 dial/hand variants. So approximately 28 made in this particular black dial variant were made.

Tritium dial with a coin-edge bezel. Pump pushers. With long lugs that make this wears more like a 35-36mm.

Bi-compax with no date.

NEO-vintage … when GP was owned by the Macaluso family.

Thought this was an interesting one to share.

🤝

I really love sector dial watches, and this one has a very lovely one. Best regards. René

And fairly rare to see in 34 mm I’m told

Tritium dials (partial as the hands are lume) add to the charm of this one. 🤝

Nice one!

Some of the gems that have been largely forgotten. 🤝

Agreed. Except here!

Yes but PETER CDE posts with broken image links

Is a major problem that doesn’t seem to be getting fixed. Tragic … And yes, I’ve tried, no response from Bill. Have tried numerous times to get a project going to start restoring the data but no steps forward in sight. 🤝

No. I’m not an ambassador of the brand.

I am way too critical of management to be an ambassador … and nor do I want to be. Next, their archives and heritage Dept is a mess. Lots of missing info. Ownership has changed from Macaluso to Kering to current management. Much archives have been lost of...

Amen, then.

don’t discount it too soon! Wear that little beauty. You might be surprised. I’m a 34mm convert!!

Oh I don’t recall the thickness.

 By: SingaporeMarc : September 17th, 2024-17:05
Maybe about 11.5 mm or so 🤔 I’ll measure it if I can remember. You really like to ask about thickness of watches I notice. 😄 it’s a totally valid question. 🤝

😄 there is only one answer for you

When I bought my Ref 7100 Seahawk at that time, I looked also to this reference, but from my point of view it was unconvincingly tiny… 😅

So I decided otherwise… (not sure why emojis don‘t work anymore) Ps: My wristsize is only 16cm… ...

In top condition!

Came after the 7710 when GP decided to go to the 38 mm size. 1994 or so. Congratulations on this darling 🤝

Thanks. 🤝 It just takes some patience

And shit load of research and searching 🤣

Yes exactly 💯 movement to case size are in sync.

The pushers are a bit oversized and this gives it character. As a sector dial Chronograph, this is a well laid out design. The pulsation scale in on the rehaut. 🤝
