Monday blues 💙 … let’s see those GP blue dials
Mar 25, 2024,08:36 AM
Wearing my GP 2598, 38 mm cushion case with the Yves Klein blue dial.
This NEO-vintage LE (50 pieces) was made in 2002. Gosh, it’s about 22 years old now. Still looks in decent shape, yes?
It’s a central chronograph so four centrally stacked hands.
Bi-compax, the small seconds swapped to the right subdial and the left is a 24 hour indicator. Subdials are sunken and engine turned.
Breguet applied numerals. You might notice the 12 and 6 to be just little bit bigger than the other numbers.
It’s all in the details … notice how broad the lug width is … 21 mm. And you may also notice how the lugs taper to follow the case shape to the curve of the wrist.
Best part is … no date 😃

Appreciate that. Not the easiest watch to photograph due to reflections. Are you a GP fan as well?
Thanks orahu☀️

It’s a comfortable strap. Oil Rubbed so I think it will age well.
Thanks M4. I do feel fortunate

And that’s also why I share about it. Karma. Need to share the knowledge. The regular 2598’s are nice too. Not too difficult to find on c24 and such.
Thanks ☀️ 13 mm

Largely because of the raised bezel and domed sapphire for the stocked 4 hands to clear. Then it steps down to the case dramatically which I’m guess is about 10 -11 mm or so. Thanks for your question. ☀️
Thanks Derreck. One of my favs

The details of the case is what makes this a winner. The regular 2598 won watch of the year in japan 1999.
Oh I didn’t know that
By: Derreck : March 25th, 2024-22:35
but I can see it, Seiko also has angular cases which many people including me like a lot, so these type of cases are not foreign to the Japanese audience, it makes sense that the 2598 would win watch of the year award in Japan, it’s really beautiful
Agree

There is a certain beauty and subtly of complexity for these type of cases. Proportions must be precise and the machining exacting to achieve the desired outcome. I’ve seen them attempted by other brands and they have come out looking “wonky”. ☺️ ...
Ha ha 😄

Let me know if you do please.
😄 I hear you
By: SingaporeMarc : March 25th, 2024-13:47
Pretty much same reason why I hated all the girls on Baywatch 🧐
I understand.

My wrist is 18 cm. So you tried the 2598 on? Have a wrist shot pls?
;)

Same in Singapore

when I was a kid, the programs only started at like 6 pm. So in the afternoon after school, I would just look at the test pattern … for hours 😄 Ah I see, you are into wide screen TVs ☺️
I had one of GP's best. Also without date :-)
By: MichaelC : March 25th, 2024-15:04
I liked it while I owned it. But it had an issue which would not be corrected, so off it went. But this color of blue, it was the best, for my tastes. ...
Yes, Earth to Sky model
By: MichaelC : March 25th, 2024-17:30
I really enjoyed it, for a while. I will respectfully pass on sharing the details, and have no interest to disparage the brand. I will answer that it had nothing to do with the rotor / bearings / winding. Mine ran fairly well.
Looking good Marc!

Alas, mine has a date, but everything else is perfect on this watch, so here we are 😉 ...
The 42 mm laureato fits you well
By: SingaporeMarc : March 26th, 2024-04:22
At least GP has executed the date window well for the 42 mm. Date wheel fonts as well. Yours even matches the BMW logo ☺️ nice detail.
Agreed on date window
By: Aquaracer1 : March 26th, 2024-12:02
If date wheel was white, that would have been a deal breaker for me. At least it matches the dial color nicely
Oh I love white date wheels
By: SingaporeMarc : March 26th, 2024-13:20
It’s a mark of significance for special pieces. ☺️ Royal Oak 5402 Laureato 81000 ...

Much appreciated ☀️
By: SingaporeMarc : March 26th, 2024-04:35
I don’t quite know how GP has done it here with the 2598 but this wears well on both smaller as well as larger wrists. It’s “only” 38 mm but the case shape seems to conform where needed and also shouts out “I’m different” at just the right inflection poin...

We both know the hidden gems in neo-vintage pieces.
Thanks Larry.

This is a nice shot of your Seiko. Is this the Sumo?
“Charming” is the perfect description
By: SingaporeMarc : March 26th, 2024-04:30
After a while, “standard” case shapes have become a bit boring for me. So a little “spice” in the collection is nice. ☺️
Thanks Geross ☀️
