but I seldom wear it. no more than 5 times, each time less than 30 minutes. And everytime I push the button, the 1/8 second hand works very smoothly.

don't worry, lots of people have it and it works just fine. I am recently trying to find the same 1/8 split second movement on Panerai.

It is certainly not as robust as some other chronos but then it is not like other chronos! Mine is on its way to the spa in Switzerland for a service and it had stopped working properly. Old photo.

The foudroyante hand should not move when the main chrono Hand stops. Also, it does not have its own escapement. (Such as the El Primero Defy 21) Seems like yours need to be serviced too! BW, Chi Kai

My watchmaker (who specialised in Omega and Zenith) fixed the flying seconds to link with the chronograph/rattrapante, without needing parts. Pure joy
