Laureato 8010 - 2-tone rose gold and steel

Jan 07, 2025,05:35 AM

One can really feel the extra weight of the solid gold in this one compared to the full steel model.

A couple of quick pics from the balcony. This year is the 30th anniversary of the laureato 8010 which was released in 1995.

Case diameter 36 mm. Dial size 27 mm. Thickness 7.9 mm

(The dial size is the same as the laureato 38 mm current production pieces)

I’m guessing about 50 pieces or so made of this variant of dial to case to bracelet.

Yes, 1995 at Basel. There is very little written about the release itself (Strangely so). I guess it is because it was just pre-internet and such. The laureato 8010 was only in the GP catalogs for 5 short years. A total of about 1,600 pieces made in a var...

That’s a good point ☀️

I usually don’t buy 2-tone, but it just seems to work well with the laureato and with this size and design as well. 🤝

something tells me

You are sending signals to the GP mothership for the 50th release ;-)

😄 I think the GP mothership

has already locked in the design for the 50th anniversary about 1+ years ago …

Thanks Jesse 🤝

All well thanks. Getting a little tired of GP changing dial colors and calling it a “Limited Edition” So I saw that you sold your 38 mm blue. So what’s on the horizon GP-wise?

Marc, I agree

I want more from GP than just dial color changes . Is this the “easy” way out? How about a new case size or movement for Laureato? I am interested to see what GP announces for 50th anniversary of Laureato this year. There have been some changes at work, s...

I hear you …

But just to be precise, GP did not release the exact same watch again. The “new” 38 mm blue dial has the single bridge logo on the dial (personally 1791 or single bridge … either is fine), darker blue (midnight blue is more like the 41 mm ref 81000), and ...

That is fair

Those are very subtle changes to me. But nonetheless changes. The most interesting exercise would be to compare the blue tones of your 42 mm Laureato to your 41 mm Laureato. To see if there are any noticeable changes. Let us know if you are willing to ind...

Oh yes, here it is, found it!

Thanks Marc. I have not seen the new 38 mm midnight blue in the metal yet, but must say, based on all the pics I’ve seen, that blue tone looks VERY similar to 42 mm Laureato blue. I’ve posted your pic, and then a couple pics of my friends new 38 mm midnig...

Thanks Jesse

From what I see … the 41 mm 81000 is slightly darker than the 42 mm 🤷🏻‍♂️ ...

Yup! I see it now!

Based on the pics, the 41 mm is a different shade of blue than the 38 and 42. If I have time , I’ll see if I can compare the 42 and new 38, if possible at local store. Thanks again Marc, have a great day! 👍🏻

Yes, changing dial colors and calling it

a LE is lazy IMHO. You don’t dig the neo vintage pieces like I do but I tell you what, they show real innovation and variety in design and complications. So yeah, just wait until the 50th anniversary. You have switched now from the silver dial 38 mm, to t...

Good points Marc …

After all, 40 mm is the mid point between 42 and 38, maybe the Goldilocks effect 😂 Time will tell my friend! I wonder when it will be released this year !

I consider my 41 mm perfect

Because it’s not only smaller but is thinner too. 😃 Let’s see what the 50th looks like … 🤝

Thanks Tony ☀️

Yes, I agree with you. The combination is handsome. I think the blue is a deeper blue for the 2-tone compared to the full steel. Hoping to see more posts of your grey dial 8010 too. Are you tempted to get the 2-tone as well … 😅😇

Hahaha, not sure if I can find the one at a reasonable price at the moment.

I found a couple of 2-tone on the internet a few months back, but both are in all steel bracelets, not same as yours (that I preferred).
