perhaps someone did not have the respect to stand behind his or her previous comments. But then, it's all about the original post by Blomman of a superb original watch and quality write-up.

Amazing full set of one of cult and very very rare vintage pieces from G-P....what I gathered only 40 to max 60 movements got Observatory certificate and their movement numbers can be found in Neuchatel Observatory records! See the color of the inside of ...

Besides that, the dial was changed with that statement Observatory Chronometer. GP did it and filled that official report 😎

GP has aslo manufactured a new dial to fit your watch with the Observatory Chronometer sign. I know vintage purists love patina dials, but for me a rusty dial is just... rusty, or damaged 😜 I appreciate more a perfectly restored watch, but that is me

. . . isn't collectible, in my humble opinion. That's why I never send my Omegas to Bienne for restoration - there are simply too many instances of watches sent there with specific instructions of measures not to be taken which are then ignored. That said...

You brought up old things that should have been water under the bridge by now. I even asked you if you really wanted to take that discussion here in the GP forum, I even asked you to think twice before replying. In your reply you even wrote “I stop here”.... 

To my understanding, all Chronometers has been tested by a Observatory, in this case the Neuchatel Observatory. BUT , that do not make all of them Observatory Chronometers. After the normal Chronometer test, some of the watches stayed for a longer Observa... 

But your letter only confirm Chronometer. As for how well manufacture's are at recreate dials, I (and I think others here as well) can confirm that what you get back after service are not always the correct outcome.

I've been reading through this thread cos I care about G-P and love it. Also I remember posts from years back about this piece of yours that I see you still love. Now please allow me my take on this "case"...but first I will cite Melvyn ..."You are correc...

I still have mine... Had to use a spare 32A as a parts donor for my 32A with the full set of b&p.. Sorry to chime in late, but if Ken's watch is listed on this www.observatory.watch database, it's an Observatory chronometer, as the URL lists ...

Given the relative rarity, I have not seen any values except for one that sold for auction 3-4 years ago in Germany for $1400..

Well, we - or at least I try to avoid discuss prices here in the forum... But I can tell you that the price for a original Observatory Chronometer in good condition has gone quite a bit up north last few years... Best Blomman

I do wonder where all these Observatory chronometers have gone over the years. According to the database, there are 702 for the years 1966/67, 40 the first, then 662 the second yet as best as I can tell, maybe ten have appeared over the last 10 years that... 

Yes, 662 Chronometers in 1967. All Chronometers were certified by the observatory, but not all Chronometer had Observatory Chronometer on the dial. Best Blomman

Hi Blonman. The database shows 702 entries for GP chronometers. I know of GP chronometers with serial numbers that do not appear in the database. Is there any known serial number for a GP Chronometer that is in the database but does not have the Observato...

.......by definition, GP were making a distinction between a Chronometer HF and one with Observatory Chronometer.... a distinction that should not be lost or blurred

All Chronometers (regardless of brand) had to be tested and approved by a Observatory to be allowed to bear the "Chronometer" on the dial. That include all Chronometer HF. BUT, only a part of all Chronometer HF did have the Observatory Chronometer dial.

According to this (#Observatory_trials_and_standards_before_1973), movements that passed the testing by the Bureaux officiels de contrôle de la marche des montres (B.O.s), the precursor to COSC(?), would be certified as chronometers (just not observatory ...
