Friends, Today we talk a bit about a watch that is close to my heart. The 38 mm Classique Elegance Carré Cambré Chronograph 2499. The Classique Elegance line was a series of different watches produce by Girard Perregaux from 1999 to 2005. Many different w...

I try very hard

But I can't figure why the hell the small seconds should be at 9? 🤔😵‍💫

The answer is … Why not? ☺️

 By: SingaporeMarc : October 5th, 2023-19:20

That’s what I love about it

 By: SingaporeMarc : October 5th, 2023-19:19
Last time I checked, there was no predetermined place the small seconds has to be. ☺️ I like the bracelet too. Thanks for your comment.

Very appealing chronograph 😍

Is the movement the Caliber 3300 with Dubois Depraz module?

Thanks Eric. Very hard to find these

 By: SingaporeMarc : October 5th, 2023-19:48
Actually not the 3300. This is using the ETA 2892A2 and it is modified and refinished by GP. Reliable and good quality. And easy to service. The 2892A2 is considered the top of the line for ETA. The GP caliber name is GP 022C0-Q0VSS 11.5”’ and yes a Dubo...

I had an IWC Mark XV with a modified

ETA 2892 (from the last of the “good old days” of IWC) and it performed flawlessly; wish I hadn’t sold it. I’ve enjoyed your GP posts. They’re really nice watches, and I appreciate your willingness to share your passion and knowledge. Cheers!

Ah yes, the good old days of IWC.

Have you ever bought back a watch you regretted selling? Thanks for your kind comment. I’m glad to hear that my GP posts are appreciated. It also helps me consolidate my thoughts about various models. Do some extra research … especially with questions fro...

No, I haven’t.

I’d love to find a new old stock Seamaster like Captain Scarlet and a couple of others here have. I owned the midsize version (black dial) which didn’t quite work for me. If I had bought the full sized version I think I’d still have it. As for IWC, I’d lo...

Thanks JK

I like it on both strap and bracelet as it changes the entires look and feel of the watch. Strap more vintage and bracelet more modern. Stronger wrist presence. Also, always good to have the original bracelet as they can’t be bought any more. What do you ...

Such a beautifully guiolloche dial in both of them

 By: Derreck : October 5th, 2023-19:59
My preference would be the silver dial I guess. Thanks for sharing they are gorgeous with a very nicely shaped case

The black is the more rare

 By: SingaporeMarc : October 6th, 2023-05:20
One and harder to photograph. I’m still trying to figure out how best to capture is when it turns a grey color. The silver happily shows it guilloche sun burst effect as if it has a mind of its own ☺️ Thanks for you comment. How has your GP search been co...

I have to admit very slow

 By: Derreck : October 6th, 2023-06:19
I started buying watches only this year & I already bought two watches so trying to exercise some form of restraint and build slowly.

Slow and steady is good.

 By: SingaporeMarc : October 6th, 2023-07:19
Which two watches have you gotten so far?

So…

 By: Derreck : October 6th, 2023-07:33
The first one I bought was a Lang & Heyne Friedrich iii. While waiting for the delivery of that went to Japan and bought a Grand Seiko SLGA021, the lake suwa before dawn, so the first watch I actually owned has been the GS.

Nice choices

 By: SingaporeMarc : October 6th, 2023-09:11
Lang & Heyne Friedrich III is very niche and lovely finishing. The GS is a safe one. Sporty elegance. You are done ☺️ nothing else needed

Thank you!

 By: Derreck : October 6th, 2023-09:52
The Lang & Heyne is in rose gold so I think I need at least one more watch on a strap, a tad sportier which I can play with strap colors. These days I am thinking it is a patek 5212. I still need to go and speak with an AD, maybe next year, we’ll see.

The PP 5212

 By: SingaporeMarc : October 6th, 2023-14:31
Is nice but I’m Not sure if the dial is a little busy for me. Perhaps look at some of the PP and VC and even Minerva from the earth 2000s. I especially like the Minerva 40 mm which was pre Richemont purchase and still under the Gnutti family. Extremely ra...

Beautiful Minervas…

Especially the second one with the hunter caseback is a dream, I’ll check them, thank you Marc

Welcome Derreck ☀️

I got some of the pics from c24

Yes I was also thinking of looking over there

I don’t know any other place for searching pieces from 2000, or which pieces were in production in those years

Thanks G 🙏

Always good to have the bracelet where possible especially for our warm weather in Asia. Leather is classy. Bracelet and even a rubber strap is sporty. I change them around often. ☺️

See what I mean about the bracelet?

Always good to have when possible Video == ...

Yes, agree good to have choices

 By: SingaporeMarc : October 6th, 2023-09:14
And the watch changes so much when on strap vs bracelet. Warm weather in Lagos too. I’m glad to have found these two. Perhaps time for GP to come out with another cushion case ? Thanks for reading and commenting ☀️

Oh yes. Please do bring out the 2598

 By: SingaporeMarc : October 6th, 2023-14:33
I plan to do a post about the 2598 next week. Another favorite 38 mm in the GP cushion case collection.
