You did very well with your review Peter!

Your post made me both hungry and eager to enjoy a fine bottle of wine. Unfortunately, after Christmas I am on a much needed four day smoothie cleanse. New Year's Eve - I can't wait!

I am so glad you were patient and were able to sample the wine over 5.5 hours and smell and taste the transition. Some vintages cannot be opened for 25 years, but 2006 is not one of them. It will be treasure to sample  2000 and 2005 in the future. If you ever get a chance to sample 1990 or 1996 Latour and the prices aren't silly please indulge yourself. They are sublime. As far as counterfeit wine I wouldn't worry so much unless it's extremely rare Bordeaux or very fine Burgundy like Leroy and DRC, but as the saying goes buy the seller. I have five sources for wine in my country and know and trust them all very well. If you find excellent sources in your jurisdiction whether at home or on holiday you should be fine.

Thanks for sharing your wonderful experience and look forward to reading about your next.

Best wishes, Edward

I'm on a journey to explore and train further - as shared earlier, I believe in trying to experience the extremes in order to create guideposts. Hopefully it does not set the bar too high Cheers Peter

Trying my best..

Certainly your posts have been a source of inspiration and courage to proceed with a little wine tasting adventure here on holidays. You were absolutely spot on with the decanting time - it was incredible to sense the transformation - beginning with flirt...

Wow! Thanks for inviting us along!

We should have a rule. In the future, all posts involving good food (and wine) ought to have a moderator present! Only exception would be the COVID pandemic situation. (I'm joking of course). Looks like a wonderful event!
