Went very light on cevapcici this holiday season 🤷🏻♂️😋
One of the many pet peeves about the culinary desert we live in nowadays is that there’s no proper food from the old country. While ‘Yugoslav’ restaurants used to be a culinary highlight of postwar Germany, they are neigh on gone by now and what remains (or has entered the scene since) is a truly pale imitation of what the food is like back in the old country. There may be exceptions but I have not yet found them. Sadly.
So when in Rome…
Usually during two weeks in this geographical area there would be more of it but it was a nice reminder of what we miss at home 🤷🏻♂️
Even the ones on the ski slopes were nice this time around ⛷️

The majority of what you see are cevapcici, which are not sausages but minced meat rolls, the sausages - depending on the picture - were either sudjukice or ljute kobasice (both slightly spicier and from different parts of the Balkans) 👍🏻

Any reason why they stopped? I am sure there would have been a market for it… The type of meal I can eat from the morning till night 😋

Called kajmak. It’s made out of cream skimmed off the top of cooling milk. Makes for a delicious complement to grilled meats, or can be spread on warm bread on its own - heavenly either way 👌🏻
