wines over the CNY weekend----each an example of great wine making
The '82 Chateau Lafite was the epitome of elegance, combining the mid-body refulgence of dark fruits ,complexity, with a velvety finish with years to go.The '94 Cask 23 from Stags Leap, stunned with its full bodied freshness of fruit on both bouquet and palate, despite the years, with the tannins seamlessly woven into the wine-a testimony to the Winarski era.A most enjoyable comparison of styles from two regions.
The whites were more than adequate in their own right, the tight minerally chablis and my favourite Bollinger 02,but have to yleid pride of place taht evening to the reds
A very Happy Chinese New Year to all purists on this forum
