Wow I am envious of the wonderful wines you enjoy, and not store as “investments”

Yes that is the way to life. To truly use the luxury item to it’s intended purpose.

Expanding my horizons on wine. Not outside France mind you ..

But I’ve been quietly drinking a lot of Burgundy lately. Tonight’s enjoyment with Sunday’s favourite homemade roast chicken. Have a great week everyone. ...

Pls share the tasting notes

Had this today

I’ve been searching for this wine for 2 years. Coincidentally, I was with my buddy at the wine shop yesterday and missed it, but all of a sudden, he asked me what this bottle is, out of the hundreds of bottles there. Sometimes coincidence is strange. I to...

Life is too short not to live as long as you don’t harm anyone else - enjoy! Now for the notes

Nose of cherries, minerality and some subtle wood notes. The middle palate is very nice, but the length on the aftertaste is dominated by red fruit. More thick red fruit and dryness and less acidity and balance than I would have expected from the nose. Sl...

Nice one. The tannins in 2002s still dominate in my experience.

More time needed to resolve and soften. But there is good fruit across the 2002s so hopefully they will be fine in a few years. After trying several 2002s lately I’ve resolved to wait a few more years before trying again. Cheers, John

Precisely my experience I couldn’t agree more my friend -

I had a 2001 Meo-Cazumet clos Vougeot tonight and night and day in every respect, but the point is it’s drinking nicely now.

Love the 2001s. At its finest a very elegant vintage....

with many very pure wines. Wish I bought more at the time. I've drank most of my 01s waiting for my 99s and 02s to mature. The cdV sounds lovely.

The 01 was so sophisticated. Had the 03 cdv and

It was very different but still sublime. I find 03 is such a fruit forward vintage but the 03 Meo-Cazumet had great balance. Such a pleasant wine.

My experience too. The 03s are big, extracted fruity wines (for Burgundy) due to the heat of the vintage.

But the better domaines made some excellent although atypical wines. I haven't really gotten into my 03s yet, but I probably should check in to see how they are coming along.

Nice wine from a very good region and vintage........

..d'ont know this house, but the wine should be drinking well now. It's good to explore beyond Bordeaux, especially with the elegant pinot noir. enjoy your notes best

Burgundy has been waiting for you!

I would love to have shared the Meo Cazumet with you; but you might not have gotten more than a sip or two.

I drank the whole bottle. Honest but not proud. Lol. And -

Mike you are very correct. Burgundy has indeed been waiting for me. I hope you are well. We seem to have similar tastes in watches and wine. The last five Meo-Cazumet I’ve had were 2003 Vosne-Romanee 1er cru and the Clos Vougeot 2001 and 2003 grand cru. T...

Don’t be embarrassed. The first 3 bottles of Cros Parentoux, a vineyard that Henri Jayer basically bequeathed to the brothers, that I had were unshared with anyone-including my wife! Heaven on earth. By the way:this was the early 2000s and they were 95s. ...

So you know the guilt pleasure :)). The burgundy prices today are insane.

 By: emcquillan : October 9th, 2021-05:32
But I suppose that can be said for a lot these days. I’ve been buying 2018 and 2019 to cellar and wait and decent but not superstar older vintages to enjoy and learn what I like. It’s a re-education period for me.

Burgundy prices have gone nuts!

 By: halkcb : October 9th, 2021-07:30
That Cros Parentoux will likely be a multiple of more than 10 over your stated $1300/- Sad ,but makes these out of reach for casual drinking.

It is sad.

I’ve actually switched my focus to Super Tuscans because of the price of Burgundy. I figure I have a few years before the collectors kill this area.

Well, the super tuscans have climbed in price, but not near the stratopheric levels of Bourgogne.

Gone are the days when Tignanello,Solaia and Ornellaia were reasonable ,but expensive as they are today they are still reasonably affordable, comparatively, some of sure for how much longer are some good buys in Argentinian and Chilean wines, relative to t...
