Especially with the old cases. They faded very quickly which is why FP changed it to deeper ones by late 2000.
The crown also faded over time although not as quick. They did however fade the platinum shards from the burin easily.
In any case, at first I was eager to wear it but have now accepted it for what it is. Thankfully, I have other ways of enjoying my watches.

though it's not the scratches I worry about. The marks of the engraving on the caseback and that of the crown are still fresh. I fear rubbing any of it off.
it is platinum, very hard to rub it off.
What you can do, which I will do... is to put a small magic tape over those engraving. I had done that on some watches in the past and you will never know that it's there to begin with.

that the old case fades easily though. I had many opportunities to try early Journes pieces more than a decade ago and all of them were already very lightly engraved. It is part of the look. I would be wary if I see a deeply engraved 'old' Journe though. ...
Lightly engraved yes...
But if you simply pass your finger over the engraving, that's when you can spot the difference. I recall one Resonance that was well worn and I couldn't even see the serial anymore. The crown however is a different story... ...
I’m with you on this one. Sometimes, and this is one of those times, a watch should be worn very sparingly.

They’re supposed to be on your wrist to tell time. At which point you can admire the beauty of this exceptional piece. Don’t keep it in a safe. I’m begging you! I want to see more pictures of it!
