The Pinnacle of My Collection?

Sep 04, 2019,06:16 AM

It has only ever seen two incomplete days on my wrist and I often get heat over that decision. On the other hand, coming across something like this that has not seen the light of day in over 15 years and still represents the exact condition of what it looked like since creation is like looking for a needle in a haystack. We are not sure who assembled this one since the records weren't started when the watch was made but it was likely FP since I kind of recognize how his work is often finished (or I think I do lol).

You've got to wear it, but you've got to keep it protected!

Your only option is to build yourself a climate-controlled vitrine and live inside it.

What a watch!

Absolutely a stunner and...

it will only make sense for you to wear it and build its history that's truly yours. I wear mine often enough and because of the way the watch is designed, it doesn't attract scratches. Plus, even if it has scratches, the look of this piece handles such s...

I totally agree..

though it's not the scratches I worry about. The marks of the engraving on the caseback and that of the crown are still fresh. I fear rubbing any of it off.

it is platinum, very hard to rub it off.

What you can do, which I will do... is to put a small magic tape over those engraving. I had done that on some watches in the past and you will never know that it's there to begin with.

You'd be surprised.

Especially with the old cases. They faded very quickly which is why FP changed it to deeper ones by late 2000. The crown also faded over time although not as quick. They did however fade the platinum shards from the burin easily. In any case, at first I w...

Interesting info but I'm not convinced...

that the old case fades easily though. I had many opportunities to try early Journes pieces more than a decade ago and all of them were already very lightly engraved. It is part of the look. I would be wary if I see a deeply engraved 'old' Journe though. ...

Lightly engraved yes...

But if you simply pass your finger over the engraving, that's when you can spot the difference. I recall one Resonance that was well worn and I couldn't even see the serial anymore. The crown however is a different story... ...

So beautiful!!! nt

You should enjoy it often!

I’m with you on this one. Sometimes, and this is one of those times, a watch should be worn very sparingly.

But you need to keep taking pictures of it to share with the good folks here.

Watches are made to be worn.

They’re supposed to be on your wrist to tell time. At which point you can admire the beauty of this exceptional piece. Don’t keep it in a safe. I’m begging you! I want to see more pictures of it!

great to see you here Samir
