Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts Christian. Myself, and I’m sure everyone here, value your input and perspectives.
First off, as I sometimes do I was trying to be a little provocative with the heading. In the hope that folks engage.
But there is truth in it, and you correctly noted it needs to be considered in context. It’s very situational.
Of course I enjoy these watches, but how I do that has changed.
A good example of this is that while I would wear these to the Boutique to meet up with some Journe friends, I would not wear them to an Aperitif (at the same Boutique) with countless strangers. Similarly, these are no longer watches I would bring to a WPS GTG, but meeting one on one yes.
And to further emphasize the context or situational element, in contrast the office or meetings are actually places I do tend to wear some of these.
But my post was also about having some watches that can truly just be fun, with no worries or cares. I’ve been a long time Sistem51 wearer (since the very first watch), and I appreciate what these collaborations bring to folks like me and to folks that may never be in a position to purchase a Speedmaster, Blancpain or anything from AP. I just don’t see the negatives.
And as for your T30 dreams, yes, I can sympathize. I would perhaps go further and even lament the pre COVID retail prices. In the long term I would like a CO (that is not what I have on my wishlist, I’ll send you a PM) but without some magical financial interventions or a side hustle on Only Fans (LOL) that may be a pipe dream.

If I were a billionaire then my view stated above re the Journes would indeed be different. Relatively, they would be my Swatch. And the “fun” would be unaffected or not compromised.

I’ve been into watches for about 30 years - a bug I caught from my dad. And I’ve seen trends come and go. I think sticking to what you love and appeals to you is what really matters. Everything is pontification (on my part). Harmless banter, really.
