NWA: Titanium Octa Sport 42mm!

Nov 27, 2021,11:12 AM

Never thought I’d be able to afford another Journe after the recent price escalations and stopped following the brand as closely; recently though had the chance to try an aluminum CTS for the first time and was blown away by the lightness and comfortable fit. Couldn’t afford that but saw the Octa Sport in titanium is pretty reasonably priced (at least in the world of Journe) and seemed a better pick up than the 5167/5164 I had in mind. I also much prefer these 42mm models to the new 44mm ceramic bezel models so the fact it was cheaper than them was just an oddity and icing on the cake.

I went through a VERY similar thought process before acquiring the same watch last spring. And it's a helluva watch! Congratulations on your last Journe!

These are multiplying! Congrats.

I say multiplying as until about a month ago I rarely saw this watch on the bracelet, and now we have three posted here in the last month or so. It’s a beautiful watch. It’s so much more appealing in person I think. And like you I prefer the 42mm. Another...

Definitely much better in person.

There’s a crispness and three dimensionality that you can’t see in photos (where it looks more flat and toy/swatch like). It’s a tough watch to photograph too (the very reflective glass doesn’t help). Rarity is definitely nice for many reasons; one thing ...

How many, give or take?

I remember being told by Pierre Halimi that they'd produced way more aluminum Octa Centigraphes than titanium ones, but I don't remember what the specific numbers were.

174 titanium vs 316 aluminum octa sport; this aluminum number included the black though which might be considered its own reference, 100 of those. 72 titanium vs 188 aluminum for CTS. All according to Watchbox; they did a video and article with all the nu...

Wow, that's surprisingly few!

I've been so familiar with Journe for so long that I think I haven't recognized just how small his operation is.

Thanks for sharing, I knew the CTS numbers but not the Octa Sport.

Despite the production numbers which I knew, when deciding on a CTS (and prices for Titanium and Aluminum were effectively the same at the time) I always saw the Aluminum as the collectible piece and the Titanium as the everyday piece. I still see it that...

I was wondering actually, are they interchangeable? Can you ask FPJ today for the one you don’t have? Would be nice to have that option. When they sold them were they made to the clients preference or released into the wild as is? All the black aluminum h...

I agree, the curves, the form of the watch case and bracelet, need to be see on the wrist to truly appreciate the appeal of this one.

Here’s a picture from a little GTG a few weeks ago, a buddy had just picked up the Octa Sport. Even though I own the CTS I wasn’t sure about the Octa until I saw it in person. Sounds silly I know. Of course now I’m wishing I’d jumped on one a few years ag...

This photo is so sick!

Like you I think this is a much better watch than the aquanaut. Well done 👍

Excellent catch .

I’m an owner myself, albeit on rubber. I went through a similar shopping comparison, and really the only one thing that was swaying me toward a 5167 was the screw-down crown; I feel a true sport watch should always have one. But that’s it, and it wasn’t e...

don’t have a Patek yet so the allure of having my first was almost enough if I’m honest - 2 Journes and 0 Patek, or one of each? It’s a tough decision! But in terms of value head to head it didn’t seem particularly close and I have a lot of time only watc...
