It's just the angle...

One of the things I dislike about FPJ's watches is the lack of anti-reflective coating on the crystals. They are difficult for me to photograph, so I have to rotate the dial to just the right angle to avoid reflections. More importantly than the photographic challenge, the many reflections from the crystal make it difficult to fully appreciate the dials when wearing these watches. About a year ago, I visited FPJ's repair facility in Miami. I had the wonderful opportunity to see a wide assortment of FPJ dials, uncased, without any crystals above them. Those dials are far more beautiful when you can't see reflections from the crystals.
The gray ruthenium color is the same on both dials -- the Calendrier and the Perpetuelle. The Perpetuelle dial does appear lighter because of the lighter accent colors (the rose gold hands and the lighter printing), but it is not a lighter color. And yes, this was FPJ's only perpetual calendar (limited to 99 and in celebration of the Tokyo boutique) other than the current Quantieme, I believe.
I got lucky because I happen to have the same LE number for both of these watches -- #27/99 for each. It is nice to have a matching set!
