It’s not FPJ Friday, yet, but I’d taken my humble CS out in preparation, and it struck me for the first time that the relationship between the crown movement and time advancement (moving forward) is the exact opposite of all my other watches. Am I just ha...  

I just tested my CS and, facing down at the crown, you turn the crown COUNTERCLOCKWISE to advance the hands. I also tested a Panerai Submersible, Rolex Explorer, Zenith El Primero, JLC Reverso, Nomos Metro, Lange Saxonia, Grand Seiko SBGW, and Breguet La ...  

Truly appreciated. Amazing collection (or sub collection) btw. Very versatile 👌🏿. I advance the time on all my other watches by turning the crown UP, if that makes sense.

Very weird to think that your collection is mostly that way, and my collection is mostly the other way

I spoke to folks at FPJ and confirm what you said above. The way to set the watch most accurately (to a second for me) is to stop the seconds hand by turning the crown counterclockwise.

Faux hacking isn't good for the movement, but not usually damaging to the movement. The situation is more serious if the watch is a Tourbillon - the Tourbillon will not take to faux hacking and reversing very nicely (since the Tourbillon cage itself can't... 

However, it bothers me beyond belief when a watch with a seconds hands it’s set exactly. So idk what the workaround is.

So many fancy brands don't have hacking seconds... How can I set my Patek Philippe exactly, some of them don't have second hands and some of them with second hands don't hack. I think the majority of the Pateks in my collection aren't able to be set exact... 

Patek has fixed it with the 6119 and [I may be mistaken] the new Nautilus

Lange is one of the few brands where almost every model in their lineup hacks.

I think many dress watches are like this. My PP, fpj’s, Piaget are all the same.

Leave it to those precise Germans. They want a watch that hacks so the time can be set to the second. I do understand the counter argument. Hacking the movement will mean that rate will likely be unsteady for the first few minutes as the balance Spring wi... 

I haven’t handled any tourbillions, but if I did, seeing it roll back would scare the hell out of me.

IMHO, the article half-answers the question and ends abruptly. To his (FPJ) credit, my CS is the most accurate timepiece in my current collection, after my two omega’s lost the top position (bc of poor regulation during service after iatrogenic damage 😔).... 

my CS (the second I own) keeps great time but amazingly my other Journes even better! Best Andreas
