F.P. Journe

I have just seen this watch today during a presentation by F.P.Journe himself in Paris. I will come back to it with a detailed review but the only thing I can say at this stage is that I consider it as one of the most beautiful watches of these last years...  

and somehow I don´t love it. Some details are just so great ... I have very mixed feelings and probably I have to see it in the metal. Thanks, FX! Oliver

The rationale behind the two tone case is that it follows the design of the original pocket watch. At the time, Journe couldn't afford to do the entire case of the pocket watch in gold, so he opted for the two tone approach of gold and silver. There is an...

...that the ten in the platinum case are boutique editions, with a black dial. Each boutique will submit the names of three collectors who wish to have the watch. M. Journe will then draw the lucky collectors randomly. Suddenly, two-tone is looking accept...

Is it the best looking watch out there...no Is it amongst the most technically most sophisticated watch out there...no Is it the most interesting concept of the year...no Is it anything new creatively...no What it is...is a watch for seasoned Journe colle... 

George Daniels, of course, developed his pieces based on the work of masters before him. Still, it's amazing how much the high-end mechanical watch industry owes him. I have shameless stolen the following photo from from their page advertising the book, ...

I love everything about this watch except the dial is a tinny whinny cold to me . Just wondering how to maintain the silver from oxidation? Must be headache. Best Iceman
