"Why don't you... ?" questions aimed at F.P. Journe
As we launch this new forum it is natural to celebrate the watches we have owned or currently enjoy ... and to wonder "What if they made ..." or ask "Why don't they make?"
Certainly these are valid questions in the context of an enormous and mysterious manufacture like Rolex, or Seiko.
No doubt their researchers are hard at work on everything we can imagine, so they have to brush us off with platitudes to avoid revealing secrets not ready for public consumption.
In the case of independents, such as Kari, one might happily engage in conversation about watches you desire.
With others, who have multi-year waiting lists already, you know they are too busy to get distracted with your request.
Having had only minimal personal contact with the singlular genius watchmaker Mr. Journe (when we were all younger), but getting a strong impression at that time, I can propose a simple imaginary answer from him:
"Because I don't want to, or it's not on my priority list. End of story."
More than any other watchmaker I've met, he appears to be more than adequately inspired by his own vision of what he should be doing. Those who know him better than I, am I wrong in this impression?
Cheers,
Cazalea

His singular vision and 'obstinacy' in pursuing what is right for him rather than pandering to requests from all for 'individual' watches is what ensures his legacy and the strong DNA that runs across the range.
