Wednesday Madness: 2nd Chance

A while ago I have a chance to acquire a Tudor Sub, 7928 to be exact. As I know the world of Rolex/Tudor vintage is like a infinite abyss. With lots of weird creatures looking to turn you into their lunch. I'm talking about fakes and frankenwatches.

I am eager and ignorant(which is always bad) enough to think I can venture into this world by myself. I negotiate hard and got very good price. Some of you might have remember this following picture. That's the 7928 I bought.

I put it on a black leather strap thinking I'm cool. All happy and gay ...

Then I spotted something fishy!

No! Not the nato strap. It is the dial.  Go back to the wristshot and you will see the warning sign. "SWISS-T< 25" at 6 o'clock. All Tudor dial from the 60s spot either "SWISS" or "T SWISS T" as  the "SWISS-T< 25" is strictly only for the Rolex brand.

It got worst! The case is a remake from vietnam and the movement is an ETA Cal. 2483. I've gotten cold sweat and very frustrated with the seller. I mean they have been in the business for over 20 years selling authentic watches. Why would they sell a fake franken watch to ruin their reputation? I took the watch back and they exchange for me a 16600. It turns out they are also in the loop.

Now I got myself something I never thought I would get. A Rolex Sub! Why? I'll save that for another love hate post in the future.

Here it is. I have it here with a Tudor 7016 for comparison.

Sorry for the bad photo.

Here you see the 7016 and 16600 stacked together. The 7016 almost seem too curvy compare to the almost industrial looking 16600. Especially the lugs.

The 16600 is a huge burger!

But seems tiny when is next to the La Bomba.

The evolution of diving watch. In this rate we will be wearing 72mm hubcaps!

Thanks for reading hope this help you get through the mid week.

Best
