For the second
year I enjoyed the visit of the Lange exhibition at the last SIHH !
As I can hardly afford to buy any new watch
each year, I'm no too interested in incredibly innovating watches. I'd
rather look for watches that bring the state of the horological and chronometric
art to another level!
A Lange & Söhne watches seem to be a
best to fulfil such requirements!

We've
already looked at the last Pour le Merite in the Richard Lange range. This fantastic
watch is extremely desirable but out of most reach.

Fortunately her
more accessible sister is still fundamentally desirable.
What other
watch than the Richard Lange can pretend to succeed to the Geophysic for
instance!

The "standard"
Richard Lange does look in no way inferior to the Pour le Merite on the dial
side! Just slightly simpler!

The thickness
is seemingly comparable.

This watch has
come to be an obsession. Do you know what Oscar Wilde wrote about tentation?

One day it will
be mine ! Hopefully! Sharing with a Geophysic the life of my wrist!

This year's
offering from Lange was also more affordable than the Pour Le Merite. The new
1815 is really awesome!

The new 1815 is
available in four versions, yellow, pink and white gold and also platinum.

The gold
watches are fitted with blued hands that I particularly love ! I'd
love to see a white gold Richard Lange with a brushed case and blued hands like
this 1815!

In fact this
1815 only lacks a central hand, and also the magnificent superlative
specification sof t(he Richard Lange. But that's not its aim!
The objective
is just to offer a highly desirable and beautiful Lange with a perfectly
finished calibre.

The new calibre's
size is adapted to the size of the case. As always with Lange the finish is
excellent at this range level. If several brands can compete on the superlative
watch market in terms of finish, I find it hard to find a comparable finish on
a "simple' watch from a brand.

The look may
seem simple but it is a very fine look and finish.

The coherent
product definition is highly respectable. In fact each Lange watch finds its
place on the market, with a specific offering.

It was also my
first encounter with the Datograph Perpetual! Out of this beautiful grey dial I
have to admit that the mix of complication is very nicely executed!
I'd love
to wear such watch as an everyday beater!!

In fact I discovered
the Langematik perpetual at the same time. I particularly appreciate the highly
readable large date, as short sighted guys like me generally suffer for not
being able to read a perpetual calendar! Not with this watch!!

The range of
perpetual calendars is really awesome ! I'm sure next time the Pour
le Merite will add a perpetual calendar to the range.

Then let's
talk about the amazing Cabaret Tourbillon ! I feel that this extraordinary
watch was vastly undervalued when it was launched last year!
A hacking
tourbillon is still something extraordinary, even if that would seem obvious
for a chronometric device.

The design is
simple and the finsh is as always very delicately executed.

If it has
seemed highly desirable to look a tourbillon rotate for years, it seems even
more desirable to look it stop when asked!!

The face of the
platinum version is my favourite, very clean and readable, lightly romantic!

Of course you're
free to opt for a warmer pink gold version.

Years after years
Lange is building a fascinating range of watches and complications. Some may
reproach to Lange its quiet path on the booming watch market but collectors
will find their pleasure way!
Cheers
