Sharing my thoughts ....

 

Dear Friends of WPS,

Happy new year and best wishes for 2024! May it be a wonderful year of years to come with lots of love, enjoyment, family, friends, prosperity and good health!

 

As you may have noticed (or not), I haven’t been posting anything for the last year and to be honest, not even checking the forum. As some have mentioned in the past, I too became horofatigue – the developments in the watch industry also helped to reach that stage, and I would like to thank them to make me more receptive to the more important things in life.

I don’t wear my watches very often nowadays or in the past year, which has nothing to do with owning too many watches to wear; my collection (if you can call it such) isn’t big. BUT, I wasn’t enjoying wearing some of the watches as much as I thought I would. Meaning to say and more importantly I wasn’t missing wearing them, and so the horofatigue made me ponder about the watches I own; from a functional perspective vs an accessory and/or jewellery.

I have been talking to some friends about this over the past year, and I have been contemplating selling some of my watches since I don’t wear them. Currently, they are in the vault and just sitting there – I don’t carry that same enjoyment that I used to have. Maybe it’s because there are other things in life that may be more important or maybe I lost interest. I don’t know, but I do know it’s time for another stage in my life and focus on elements that I have been procrastinating for quite some time now, especially in my personal life.

I need to make more effort and time to do the things that matter the most. This is not a 2024 new year resolution, but a conclusion that was needed to be made actually months back…..


I enjoy my time with all of you and your interest and love for watches, but more so, the global friends, friendships and kindness that this watch community and interest has given me, for which I am very thankful. I will keep checking in on WPS and perhaps also drop a line.

We must all do what makes us happiest! I am getting to your stage in life as few watches excite me any longer - call it horofatigue or just a realisation that there are many more important things in life. It has been a privilege chatting to you in the pas...

I am planning on selling some of them - specifically the ones in the vault. And yes, likely once I have done that...a smile will return as I will have done something with the funds that makes me happy...

Not fatigue but satisfaction.

It sounds as if you have moved on from a phase and there's nothing to disagree with regarding your decision. I may/may not ever purchase another watch. Mainly my interest is focused on learning as much as I can about horology. Knowing when you have reache...

I think after a while one has to discover what a watch means to him/her and what purpose/need it covers. Once this is clear, it can clearly translate into any different outcome/scenario of no watches at all, no expensive watches at all, many and expensive...
