Roundabout the Reservoirs
To celebrate passing our smog test, and having a charged battery, full radiator, 3/4 full fuel tank, ABR on wrist and mobile cell phone for emergencies, we headed off for a drive this morning.
The Lotus still has dirty glass from dew and dust as that was not part of the smog test I more or less ignored it when sorting out the mechanical systems of the car.

It was cool and foggy at our house when we left, perfect Lotus weather. But now (checks thermometer) it’s 80° F here and 101° F where we went!!
My usual overheating fears were well founded, but we were able to break out of city traffic and onto the highway to avoid going completely in the red…
FIRST RESERVOIR — LAKE MURRAY

A beautiful day at the Lake.

However, my Pet Peeve (that’s American for a commonly frustrating experience) is women talking loudly on their mobile phones as they walk, oblivious to the surroundings (nature) and annoyed people.
I got so frustrated by one woman who was walking along behind us, and stopping when we stopped (stopped walking but not talking) that I cropped her out of this photo. Imagine her to the right, under the tree.

Here are two we could hear 50 yards away, guffawing and shrieking in laughter about something. My wife said “It’s only women do this, men don’t. Why?”
If there had been hot coals in that container I might have thrown one of them in there...

Lovely tree and silent too, except for bees buzzing.

The ducks stopped beating up each other when they saw us nearby, and headed right for us, hoping for a handout.

We stepped out of sight behind this bowlegged tree.

Blue skies and HOT HOT HOT probably 90 by now.

Bad day to wear black. I was wearing a green Lotus shirt, not that Michelin bike jersey.

Might have been cooler out on the lake.
SECOND RESERVOIR — CHOLLAS LAKE
We've been here a few times before, you can look the visits up if you want on to, using the link below to the directory of our morning walks .
I found a good parking spot. That’s always a pleasure.

Cormorant flashed us the Batman signal, as they do when drying out their feathers after a swim.

Lady doing some morning exercises.

Once a Tree, now a Flagpole.

Getting even warmer and we are in the shade here. We took off heading for home, but there was some major traffic going towards downtown.
Rather than sit still and melt down the car, we detoured north instead and went to another Reservoir.
THIRD RESERVOIR — LAKE MIRAMARA very nice place, Lake Miramar, but just a mile from my old office (a reminder of 18 years of toil and trouble) and it was already jammed with visitors. Parking Lots full.
So we took a few pics and kept moving.

This part of the highway has a movable barrier to accommodate heavier commuting traffic. We had a rare close encounter with the barrier moving machine.

We stopped halfway at a market along the freeway, where I slipped into a space next to a Cybertruck.

I’m glad I did not buy the one I ordered on the first day they took deposits (yes I got the deposit back).

We did some shopping and watched some guys moving far too much cauliflower with a pallet jack.

Jamming the food into the trunk (old-fashioned opened by a key! rotated in a lock cylinder in the rear lid - how cumbersome) we took off into the increasing heat.

I ran the A/C on the way home, with top down, primarily to force the cooling fans on. We made it home without overheating.

Thanks for coming along today.
