...Following a discussion with Jack about Breguet and Winders, in which the Breguet's technical assistance recommended 2 days per month on a winder for Jack's Breguets, I thought to pursue the question about my 5327 perpetual... It is quite a burden to have to fix Moon phases, date, month and year each time one has to wear the watch..
So I sent Breguet the folloing letter:
"Dear madame ----------
If you are so kind to take the time to answer me, I would like to ask you the following question, since it is a matter of debate with fellow Breguet collectors…
I own the perpetual 5327BA/1E/9V6 , which came with it’s own Breguet winder box… When I am not wearing the watch (I wear it 3-4 days monthly) I leave it in the winder, rotating about 650 Turns per Day (according to Orbita’s database for this specific watch) clockwise… So it stays in the winder about 26 days per month and the power reserve is always on the full). The watch runs correctly and so I don’t have to fix the settings, which in a perpetual watch is a burden… I own this watch since November 2007…
Do you recommend this, almost, continious use of the Breguet winder?
And, since I just ordered the Marine 5817BA/12/9V8 wich I know does not come with a winder as the perpetual, do you recommend for me to buy a Breguet winder as an extra accessory for the Marine 5817BA/12/9V8 and is that possible? Of course this watch is not so much trouble to fix the settings as it has only the time and date indication…)
I would be very happy to receive your answer…

And the answer:
"Dear Mr ------------,
Many thanks for your mail dated June, 2nd of 2008.
Following your request regarding your timepiece, ref. 5327BA/1E/9V6, we advise you to continuous use the Breguet winder box.
We are pleased to send you the technical form regarding our rotator box. To rewind your watch, you have to select program 1 (1’150 turns / day - clockwise) and to maintain the state of the watch, you have to select program 4 (860 turns/ day).
Then, we would like to inform you that you can purchase as accessories the Breguet winder for the Marine, ref. 5817BA129V8. This item is available in our Breguet Boutiques worldwide.
As you can note in the file enclosed, the program 2 has to be selected to rewind your watch (counter clockwise / 1’150 turns/ day) and the program 5 to maintain the state of the watch ( counter clockwise / 860 turns/ day).
Staying at your disposal for any further information,
With best regards

So now my mind is at ease.... It would be quite bothersome to have to adjust all the settings of the perpetual continusly and - for me - the investment is rather big and I do not want to endanger my watch by improper use...
I have different makes of winders but the Breguet one turns in a majestically slow motion, maybe to treat the watch as gentle as possible.....
And as you see I also got my winder information about the coming watch 5817.. Only thing now is as I am going to Hong Kong at the end of this month to buy another Breguet winder for the 5817 (I hope Hong Kong has a Breguet Boutique)...
Hope all this has some interest for you...
Be well...
