Patek Philippe

Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711/1A or Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Jumbo 15202?

Hi,

This is an old story repeating. But I'm convinced that the same facts, brought over and over, don't always bring the same outcome. In fact I've asked myself that same question many times, but there's at least one aspect of the equation that changes, myself!

As you certainly know or noticed I've been lurking around the 5711 for a while now. A long while in fact, a too long while. That's the most tempting new Patek Philippe for me, because I love it, because I would actually wear it and because that would be the most affordable.

To be honest I'm getting tired to run after a mirage and I'm really giving up.

I'm giving up and a new watch launched earlier this year is giving me the strength to move my mind. The watch was designed by the same great man and has a close positioning.

Each time I've seen or tried an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Jumbo, any version, I've been appealed. The watch may be rougher than the Nautilus, or to be clearer not show the same refinement, it has a strong design too. The 2121 calibre is a plus too, as it is a dream engine.

Audemars Piguet launched a revised version of the modern Royal Oak Jumbo 15202 this year and the new version seems to be in the best configuration a Jumbo could adopt. I tried it at the SIHH and was really seduced by the move. My pics are very bad but you can see it below on Foversta's picture.

Of course it is not so more accessible new than the Patek Philippe Nautilus, but second hand Jumbo models are in my reach in the precedent version (shown below in the form of the upscaled dream PuristS 10th limited edition). I could choose to take it as it is and live. It may be less beautiful than a 5711 but it may be mine!

The point of my question is to ask you if you think that I'm objective enough to choose a sound solution, or if as a Patek Philippe forum moderator I'm unconsciously sold to Patek Philippe and unable to make a sound choice?

I know that I love the Nautilus 5711 but I really appreciate the Royal Oak Jumbo too and I may be focussed on the Patek Philippe because I spend so much time here.

Maybe I should take a 6 month rest reading on the Audemars Piguet forum and stop coming here for that time?

But who can say no to that beauty ?

Best

Dje
