My first post

 

I bought my first Panerai 3 years ago. I knew I wanted to get a Luminor but that time I didn't know which one to get. I really liked the 233, I wanted to get it so badly but it was out of my reach. So finally I went to an AD and they got a 104. I saw it the first time and I really liked it. It was an ideal watch for me. I was new to horological world that time, I wanted an automatic watch because I didn't want to wind it everyday, and it is Luminor case with date. It was A PERFECT one for me.

I wear it almost everyday and the more I see it on my wrist the more I like it. It has a perfect size for my wrist, great looking especially after I changed the strap and very reliable.

And then I found out about this forum and from here I learned a lot about Panerai's history and heritage. And then I think I got hit by Panerai virus. I was really obsessed to get more Panerai and grow my collection. Still eying for the 233. But I found my new favorite, 217, the 249 and recently announced during the SIHH, the 339. I also like some other models but by far these three are my favorite.

I love the 47mm 1950 case of the 217, and I love that it has Marina Militare written on the dial (no 1950), I love the sandwiched dial, domed crystal and the gold hands PLUS it is a left handed watch. I'm not a left handed but I wear my watch on my right wrist most of the time.

The 339, bold, vintage looking, black case (radiomir composite, supposed to be tough/scratch resistant isn't it?), with 8 giorni brevettato on the dial (like 203 and the egiziano). It is not an exact replica of any vintage or pre-vendome panerai but they use the strong characteristic of vintage and prevendome panerai to create this really magnificent modern panerai. I'm sure you guys know why I really like it.

And then the 249, There's something about the dial that I can't stop thinking about it. It is to me one of the most iconic series of all. I feel that I had to have it.

So finally, after a while I got a mint condition 249. I wanted to get a new one, but it was almost impossible to find a new one. And now that I got it I ordered an aged alligator strap for it. It should arrive sometime next week. And I'm really excited to see it with the new strap.
