Or do I mean the Rolex Milgauss 1019 post. Either way, I looked at my watch...looked at the time....and realised it was too much of a coincidence not to put a post out on this awesome watch (well....sort of). Forgive the quality of the scan, i had to be quick with the shot! Right.
I bought this watch in the summer of 2014 having wanted a 1019 for much of the last 5 years. It had just never happened. Here is my review from the summer....
I was going to describe the 1019 as one of my favourite watches to wear. Then I realised that, over the years, my collection has evolved into a collection of "favourites". Whatever watch I put on feels like my favourite ... and that is why it stays in my collection. This one has such an unusual feel to it....quite unlike any of the other Rolex that I own. I am not sure whether it was Art or myself who labelled it 70s chic, but it really does have some of that 70s feel to it.
With so much to look at in Geneva, I thought it was an idea to provide some vintage respite.

.....i dont think there is a collector here who has not bought a watch and subsequently seen tastes change and no longer enjoy a watch. I think, for me, the watches that have lasted have been ones that have continually given pleasure each time on the wris...
... read with great interest. Completely agree with your view, and I wish I will be able to do more or less the same in a near future. First years in the long road of collecting are usually made with great entusiasm and little knowledge both technicaly an...
Very nice! And I agree with you: the 1019 has a very classy 70s chic. And it is an engineers watch, I feel, like a technical gauge. Got mine a month ago and enjoy it thoroughly! ...
You went for black dial too. I deliberated for a long time over dial, but in the end the watch chose me. Judging by your dial, I am guessing our two serial numbers are reasonably close.
And I also have the silver dial it originally came with. I just cannot decide whether to go black or silver. Silver is more scientific, black more dynamic. What a choice to make!
