Omega

Is it gambling ?

Hi all

I have been talking with alot of watch collectors over the last few months.  A lot of them are taking a break on the purchases of watches.   Most of them are taking a sabbatical from buying.   Some would think as the holidays approach they would want to hold some $$$ back for gifts etc....   But that is not the main reason.   I remember when it was "fun" to win an auction and wait for the package to arrive.  Now the feeling has turned into a knot in your gut .  You hope the item you won is either described correctly and the photographs are actually of the item you bought.   There is a overall increase in the level of dissatisfaction in  what is in the box when you get it.  I am not talking about buyers remorse , but actually the feeling of being "taken".  Some collectors just want to deal with a small circle of  "friends" at this point.

And for your viewing ...

This one is a happy story....

a simple automatic Transocean w/ date.....

The 2 Sellers Pics...

Lucky this time this is what came out of the box !

here is another time when a dial was described  "aged original"

sellers pic

On closer inspection there is a hairline crack in the crystal by the 11 oclock position and let in just enough moisture over many many years ..... to cause the entire dial paint crack and flake off bit by bit.   I would not call this a AGED dial but a moisture damaged dial .

I still really like this watch, movement is superclean... hi grade .... etc..

I would like to hear from other collectors ....

Good Hunting
