First Patek Philippe (5120 inside)
Hi everyone.
This is my first Patek Philippe. I have had many watches from a multitude of brands while I've been collecting and trading. I found this 5120 in a pawnshop for a reasonable sum. It ticks most of the boxes for me as it's decent sized, automatic, exhibition back. Patek Philippes are hard to find where I am, even preowned as this one is. The nearest authorised dealer is 3000 km away. I think that the premium you pay over the equivalent Vacheron Constantin or Audemars Piguet is possibly up for debate. Some of you may know me from the Girard Perregaux forum or the Rolex forum here. Some of you who read this may have even met me or bought from me.
My wrist was getting a bit itchy as the Tudor Pelagos I bought in April needed a crown replacement. I'd managed to get one of the 25500s after the introduction of the 25600 and I went to set the date forward to May 1 and the crown popped right out. Incredible. Perhaps the Tudor was bullied by the SeaDweller or the Milgauss I'm currently wearing. And I thought I'd be a bit naughty as my birthday is at the end of the month. Early birthday present. I'd set the goal of buying an automatic Calatrava by Patek's 180th... I guess when you have a goal and an opportunity....
