Few thoughts on my MB&F HM#2 CTi

I've had my CTi for a while now and wanted to share a few thoughts:

This watch is just out of this world.   It's definitely by far the most attention grabbing & emotion evoking watch I've owned.   People asked about this watch all the time and reflected various opinions, MOST of them with strong intensity, be that positive or negative...    Some of you probably heard of my wife's opinion on this watch, no less!

Now on to the watch, first off, the OEM alligator strap is STIFF.    It almost refuses to bend around my pencil wrist so it was literally dangling around my wrist for the first few weeks.

Moreover, I found the strap to be a tad too dark for my taste so it's inevitable that I would find some new apparel for the piece...

So here we go, a black/dark grey sharkskin strap that I think works quite well against the titanium front of the watch.

The obligatory wrist shot!

I have to admit, changing the strap on this watch, w/ the included tool, is a real breeze.   Absolutely no concern about slipping screw driver like those Panerai!   By far the easiest I've experienced so I'll have a bit more experiements w/ her as far as straps are concerned.

Another interesting bit is that while this watch has the very same list price as the other HM#2 made w/ precious metal, it does NOT come w/ the beautifully executed double deployant buckle.   Apparently the buckle maker refused to make buckle w/ any watch made w/ ceramics.   A bit of a bummer but given the sheer beauty of the piece, I guess I can live with it!

A lot of owners' comments on this watch were that it's not exactly legible.   To me, this makes a perfect watch for me to stare at, at least long enough for me to tell the time.   Ideal watch for those long and boring meetings!  smile

Being a bit freaky w/ the condition of my watches, I found the biggest drawdown being that this watch is IMPOSSIBLE to clean!   You can imagine how difficult it is to wipe off some oil/finger print between the two 'bezels'.

Given the shape it actually sits VERY comfortably on my wrist, with the exception that you have to wear it slightly upward toward your elbow to avoid the watch digging into the back of your palm.

Last but not least, I've also noticed that the watch tend to wind down and stop right around 58/59 min of the hour.  I suspect it's got something to do w/ the huge amount of energy required to 'fly back' the minute hand hence it ran out of power right then and there.

Hope you enjoy the pictures!   Happy New Year!
