Breakfast with Roger.
Ok, first the highlights and then the pics. The lighting was rough, so sorry about some of the photos.
First Roger showed us a Skeletonized dial. Felipe once described one of Kari's watches as "A little city." I have found that a one dimensional picture can not ever do justice to a beautiful skeletonized dial.
Second Roger showed another commissioned piece a tourbillon. For so many people it would be the Holy Grail and then some.
Furthermore, Roger provided quite a few little bits of information. First there was some considerable speculation in the on and off line community, that in these challenging times, his Daniels collaboration might be a bit pricey. All I can say is that if you are on the fence or think you can't live without one, you better get going and reserve one. Roger and his lovely wife Caroline were quite please that, not only were almost all reserved, but that half were reserved by people un-known to the watch community. Quite a lot of star power to draw people in with that watch.
Also, this was something very cool to hear. Roger told us this and quite frankly was blushing. He made a suggestion to Daniels on an improvement to the Co-axiel escapement. Not only did daniels like it, he thought it should be incorporated into their project.
Wow! Does this mean that the student has really graduated to master? I think this really is such a compliment to Roger and Daniels. A passing of the baton of history.
Ok, here are the pics,
Jay

That is really interesting. A good sign to see the knowledge passing to the next generation and then being impoved some more. Watchmaking is still a living science! Of course now we want to know what his suggestion was and how that will improve the escape...
