Belated introduction

Thank you for your comments which are much appreciated.

Apologies for not introducing myself as a new member. I stumbled across the forum and was excited to get some feedback regarding the watch I had seen the day before. Enough excuses!

I have always had an interest in watches from my early teens. Initially I admired chronographs, specifically Tissot and Omega as brands. It was my Father who introduced me to Patek, and I found it a revelation that the brand did not appear to need to "shout" about its superiority. Over the years I have managed to acquire a Nautilus and a perpetual calender but not a chrono. The idea of a perpetual calender/chrono is very enticing indeed and my personal preference is for the 3970.

Which brings me back to the watch I have seen. The truth is I actually liked it with the dial from the 5004, and there was a certificate from Patek validating the change so hopefully My concern is unfounded. Still it's a big decision .......

Thanks. I have considered both the 5970 and 5270 but not been fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to try either on the wrist. I just love what I feel is the more traditional look of the 3970. I also prefer the smaller size. Regards

Nicholas. In answer to your question I just seem to have fallen in love with the 3970r , particularly in rosé. But I also think it would be wise for me to try the 5170 and see how I feel when I'm wearing it. Regards Kal

Hi Kal, is it the chronograph you are missing - with or without perpetual calendar? Why are you interested in the 3970 in specific, when there are some more interesting options? Have you considered a "simple" chronograph like the 5170? Cheers, Oliver ...

I think it's just a case of having tried on the 3970 I fell in love with it. I also have "small wrist syndrome" and often feel smaller watches like the 3970 suit me better. I have to say though the 5170 does look stunning on your wrist. It's made me think...
