I choose the 'classic' Twist 2009.
LIKES
Unlike all the uber-cool urbane and chic boys who 'came out' for the Tech Twist 2009, I am drawn to the subtle harmony of the ostensibly plainer model. But further inspection will reveal the juxtaposition of lines that draw the eye pleasantly and yet inexplicably.
Note the target crosshairs on the subsidiary seconds display draws your eye to the nub of the dial.....the seconds hand. The counterpoint is the offset crown at 4 o'clock.
The paucity of markers on the seconds display emphasises the hours display (numerals). Although we like decorated dials, in this case, the extra real estate afforded by the bigger 41mm case is made more poignant by the LACK of patterned dial.
DISLIKES
I am obviously the fuddy-daddy of this thread as I think 41mm is too big. The time reading is sufficiently clear to carry a 38-39mm dial.
I would have prefered a hinged caseback so there is somewhere to engrave my bees... I prefer 42 bees as it represents Life, the Universe and Everything.
I see the word ' Chronometre' as superfluous.....wherefore art thou, O Subtlety?
CONCLUSION
Finally, the LUC 1.96 movement is 'the thing'. I used to say that the LUC 1.96 was the best value-for-money (VFM) finishing that Swiss watchmaking had to offer. I'm not sure how Chopard prices have risen since but it must still be pretty good VFM finishing.
