Probably the Thinnest Automatic Tonneau - L.U.C XP Tonneau (Updated)

 By: Kong : November 7th, 2010-21:56
For this year Chopard has another surprise for lovers of tonneau shape pieces. A new L.U.C XP Tonneau, yes, extra-plate, and probably the thinnest tonneau self-winding extra-plate at 7.22mm. The previous tonneau L.U.C was created in 2001, five years after...

Very, very nice.

But if I were picking nits, 'twould be nice to see a swan-neck fine regulator system a la Chopard's famous Caliber 1.96. Still, super-nice watch in design, and beautifully executed both inside and out! Best, Adam

Thanks for the input ...

Hi Adam Many would concur with you too Have you spotted a model with Cal 1.96 which caught your attention? Thanks for dropping by. Kong

Very welcome, Kong. As to the Cal 1.96...

I once upon a time owned a L.U.C Twist in white gold which of course housed this exceptionally beautiful movement; that watch is now with a friend who appreciates its overall styling as much as I appreciated the aesthetics and technical points of its moto...

Uncommon.....if not Rare offering for 2010

 By: MTF : November 8th, 2010-19:52
Wow! This is an uncommon, if not rare, offering in watches. A tonneau case and shaped movement inside is already almost "unique" in our modern times, when most 'manufactues' will use a smaller round movement. A true Manufacture will use a true shaped move...

you are right mate

its not simply casing a small thin round movement into a tonneau shaped watch...any idea on retail list price?

This is very nice.

Although the aesthetics of the cut-off number 6 does not overly thrill me. Perhaps the hour markers of the previous tonneau version could have been maintained. Regardless, I am interested in acquiring a thin/ultrathin watch at some stage and this is defin...

there is a simple elegence about the watch, finally a decent classic design from LUC. thks for sharing Kong

Wow WG!

 By: JDP : November 9th, 2010-11:32
I don't think there's a watch I prefer in WG over RG until I saw this one. Love the art deco styling and sharpness of the white gold version. I have a small wrist but it's very flat so I might be able to carry this one, especially with the turn down lugs....

Uh-oh! ;-)

That's stunning, and might be the first Tonneau to tempt me! Best, CaliforniaJed

A beautiful tonneau shaped timepiece to be sure...

A beautiful watch! This watch is very impressive that it is so thin and of a genuine Tonneau shape. However, I do slightly wish that Chopard offered a model with a Geneva Seal or a QF Seal. The case and dial looks fantastic, the sober lines, the sunburst ...

Interesting and attractive.

Very handsome, watch!

Clean dial, design, and lovely movement (I kind of miss the swan neck regulator, though) A charming watch for sure! Oh, and the increase in WR is a plus! Thanks for sharing with us, Kong. All the best, Alex

Another wants the swan neck regulator ...

 By: Kong : November 16th, 2010-05:04
Thanks Alex for the inputs. Perhaps L.U.C should have the swan neck regulator in to complete the picture for the tonneau 3.97 . Kong

Kong, what is the secret!

 By: ling5hk : November 10th, 2010-23:41
For such a slim movement with 65 hours power reserve, what is the secret? Any idea on the retail price? Even without Geneva Seal, the movement looks beautiful. Regards Ling

Secret is ...

the same, as in the beginning Looking back at it now, it is a very marvelous feat to achieve such high power-reserve in 1996 with double-stacked barrel and maintain a slender thickness for the movement. Doubt many realise this achievement. List price, wil...

LUC indeed have very fine finishing...or is it your photography? =)

Greetings Kong, Nice watch there by Chopard. I'd say the case looks far better than the 2001 model, slimmer bezel makes the difference. Thanks for sharing with us. Regards

Seriously ...

Hello Jacky This piece is slim and with the small-second, it is more complete to me for an extra-plate. Check it out in the Boutique, and the piece itself is nice. Thanks for the kind words Kong
