I think that one of Cartier's greatest strengths is in design, and the co-play between case and dial elements working together in a design. Cartier has proven that they can make a great skeleton watch: the Santos Dumont skeleton from the Fine Watchmaking collection succeeds where this one does not, because of the integration of the Roman numbers into the movement plate, making the movement the "dial" with classic Cartier DNA. There is too much going on with the R&P movement on display to show off what Cartier does best.
I would say that the massive "pocket" watch variation of this movement works quite well.
