Just arrived: CPCP Rotonde de Cartier Jour & Nuit, White Gold
This watch has to be seen in the metal to truly appreciate it. While I associate Cartier with shaped cases (a weakness of mine), the artistry and craftsmanship displayed in this dial and day/night hours indicator disc are just phenomenal. Both the guilloché work (maybe hand-operated for this CPCP LE?) and the Art-Deco style hand engraving pop into 3-dimnsionality that's hard to capture in a photo. (Especially with my extra-crappy iPhone camera. Somebody needs a new phone. ;-D)
The only fly in the ointment: the strap is secured by Cartier's ultra-crappy deployant clasp - you know, the one that has you folding the ends of the strap. Easily fixed, of course. Bespoke alligator and stingray replacement straps already on order.
I'll be wearing this one often!
