An important Patek collector recently even reported an issue with the dial of a 5370P, which is a $242k watch... While the problem he had was frankly hard to explain, he was genuinely disappointed with Patek. (No word from him on how that ended up after Patek declined responsibility, but after looking at a rare handcraft on sale at the Phillips auction in HK next weekend, my guess is he's still dissatisfied with Patek...) My general sense is, at least with names at the very top (Cartier, Patek, and also a few others), that relatively rare "incidents" of this sort will, sadly but somehow physiologically, always happen. However, when the brand is responsible, then we'll hopefully see solutions that consistently leave the customer satisfied, like in this instance ;-) Cheers.
