Gerald Genta repeaters, at least the recent ones
were all water-resistant to 100 metres, quite a feat.
In early days there was a GG Grande Complication made to order in an yttrium case for a favoured client.
Not only was the watch not water-resistant, but yttrium is soluble in water.
Supposedly, the client went for a swim, at the end of which, there was no watch on his wrist. The case had simply dissolved. No doubt there's a very complicated movement lying on the seabed somewhere.
ps - I had the story from Gerald Roden himself, otherwise I would scarcely credit it.
The original is better
