Cartier Santos Dumont skeleton in white gold sells for CHF40,000
At the just concluded Christie's sale in Geneva. With an estimate of merely CHF8000-12,000, the hammer price of CHF40,000 (including premium) blew way past the estimate. That's equivalent to about USD42,000 and very close to the retail price of about USD48,000. This is a regular production model that is still available.
One sample does not make a trend, but this result is notable and proves the Santos skeleton is arguably the most desirable of the Find Watchmaking line.

I was combing through the results
and think that this auction was very well performing overall, regardless of the price range of the watch. The Cartier is a very fine watch indeed.
