Cartier

Like most of us, I too love mechanical watches but I could not resist purchasing this Cartier tank which only comes with a quartz movement. For many, that would be a big no no but for me, it is the dial that matters most on a watch followed by the comfort...  

The visual flow from strap to dial to strap is almost unbroken... well integrated. Great watch!

I actually prefer this version compared to the earlier red, blue and green models.

For a quartz watch it was not easy to source so obtaining one is an added delight!

It can be six to eight years. The main thing is not to leave a dead battery in the watch. Take it for service.

Many fail to realise that to leave a dead battery in a watch can destroy the mechanism. So it is vital that we check our watches especially the quartz ones to ensure that they are still working.

I guess we will know for sure in a few years !

few can compete with Cartier. Hence despite not using the best movements available, their watches remain desirable because of their unparalleled style and design.

that many of the more established watch brands should be more daring with their case designs. They have mastered movement finishing, reliability and accuracy so case design would make their watches even more desirable.

when a brand can create something like the Crash, the Cloche, the Tank Basculante, the Tank Cintree to name a few. Perhaps their designers had been given more freedom than the other brands.

for established brands it's always a big challenge to find the right way between tradition and innovation. Being too traditional becomes boring, being too creative can alienate old customers.

We do see some innovation, but I think it's always a delicate exercise for a good brand to do it meaningfully while remaining faithful to its DNA -- definitely not an easy task to strike the right balance! Cheers.

We have never been more spoiled for choice when it comes to watches with big brands reissuing older models, independents redefining fine finishing, Cartier reiterating its claim to be the King of Watch Design plus plenty of rare handicrafts by the top bra...
