More thoughts on water resistant

For me, any decent watch from reputable company with at least 30m water resistant rating will be good enough to handle your described condition.

I'm in Bangkok myself so the condition here is very similar to yours.

What I find to be a bigger issue in this hot/humid climate is leather-based strap. I personally prefer leather strap but found, much to my chagrined, that it gets dirty and breaks down much faster than in colder cimate countries.

My previous watch was an EPOS (a good watch company that I rate at least a notch or two down from Cartier) rated at 30m water resistant. No problem whatsoever with water and I watch my hand quite often with it.

However, the leather strap broke apart (and it got quite dirty despite my fairly frequent cleaning) less than 2 years into its lifecycle.

I still have it and love it. Just recently got myself a Pasha with SS strap. Zero worry about water and will do a full photo/report soon.

Cheers!

Calling all Calibre de Cartier Owners....

 By: David Elliott : March 12th, 2012-18:51
I read SJX's great review when it was released in 2010 and was curious to know if it has met Purists expectations. I prefer the white dial with the black leather strap, but have some reservations with the deployant clasp. I tried one on awhile ago and it ...

Calibre de Cartier

 By: bah : March 13th, 2012-10:13
I have owned a Calibre de Cartier in black with the leather strap for over a year now and I still consider it my favorite watch. It is beautiful, works flawlessly and its understated elegance makes for a nice combination of both dress watch and a sport on...

Some answers

Hi Dave, Cartier does make pin buckles but they are not Calibre de Cartier specific, so they are slim and don't quite match the sporty case. The major aesthetic change was is the white XII numeral on the black dial. When it was launched the XII was black....

ScrewDownCrown

I remember that review, In fact, after reading that I'd liked the watch so much I decided this could be one of the very few modern watches I would like to own. Then narrowed down on the more sporty steel bracelet one as I wanted to wear this kind of watch...

That's more perception than reality

A water need not have a screw down crown for durability or water-resistance. That feature is a sufficient but not necessary quality. Take for example Panerai. All the Luminor watches are water-resistant to the rated depth (and probably a bit more) without...

Thanks so much SJX, That is great knowledge. Actually, I was completely ignorant to what you say at the time. Since when a dealer did inform me of this same thing. Following that I tried to find out how water proof the Caiber De Cartier is rated, thinking...

The Calibre de Cartier is water resistant to 30 m

 By: SJX : March 20th, 2012-07:25
Which is more than sufficient for daily use. I know people who wear watches rated to 30 m for swimming without adverse effects, though I would not recommend it. Furthermore manufacturers always test the watches to beyond the rated water resistance, e.g. t...

You are spot on, the most practical option for humid climates is a metal bracelet. Even rubber will crack and harden over time. Looking forward to your report! Cheers, - SJX

Bezel wear on Calibre de Cartier?

 By: rwk246 : April 11th, 2012-12:48
I have loved the look of the C de C since it's release, but after seeing and holding one, I percieved that the bezel has a proud (ie somewhat high) rather sharp upward facing edge, and in daily wear, it would seem that this would take a lot of dings. Has ...
