Yes! But Japan is reducing packaging these days!

 

Due to government initiative, the government taxes those fancy packagings now. So let's say you're buying cookies; you can pay 1000 yen for the cookies in a plastic bag, 1100 yen for the cookies in a paper box, and 1200 yen for the cookies in a metal tin! All in the name of reducing waste. I think this is overall a good thing. We should all have a carbon footprint of around 2.3 tons 4600 pounds or 2 tonnes (2000 kilograms) of CO2 per year, and we probably all exceed that. I'm probably guilty of exceeding that. So less packaging definitely helps!
