Tried on a few... pt 2

Went to Bulgari again today as they had ordered the Octo Finissimo Chronograph GMT on rubber for me to look at; the friendly sales associate said there was only one of this reference (103371) available at nothern European boutiques right now, for what it's worth.

It turned out I agree with Jay: While the rubber strap feels very supple and looks nice, as does the pin buckle, and the view of the gorgeous movement is thus unobstructed, I find I much prefer the all Ti version (103068) for its unique monochromatic look and, let's face it, its great bracelet one wouldn't want to do without. For it wears fantastic and, as Jay rightly pointed out in the previous thread, is an integral part of the overall design.

Now if the rubber version were indeed as sporty as it looks, i.e. higher water resistance and, for lack of a better term, a more "robust feel" (I know, that would defeat the "purpose" of this watch in the fist place)... As it is, it's a very fine watch with a very sporty look that suggests ruggedness, at least to me, that is just not part of the package.

Cheers
Marc

Some crappy pictures, cleverly none made of strap/buckle:

Are the bracelet and the strap interchangeable? It was the case for other models I thought.

If so, maybe you can have best of both worlds. But then which dial?

It definitely looked that way to me.

Don't think the monochromatic case would go well with the strap, though. Which would leave the black dial version... Food for thought.

So that’s the problem I see too.

The strap looks good with the black dial. With the grey dial, maybe not as much but you could just have someone make you a strap that matches. The reverse, the bracelet on the black dial, I’m not sure is what one wants either, as we said before part of th...

My advice would be

to go with the full monochromatic version, incl bracelet. You can always consider a fabric strap as an accessory at a later stage

Agree with this ^^^

Get the bracelet, it's easy to get OEM straps, or customized ones for that matter.

Hm. "Previous models" including the all titanium chrono? I'd be surprised if that were the case

as it sure looked like a perfect fit. (My SA wouldn't have known...)

But they are both Ti and pretty much identical so

I still am doubtful whether this information is correct.

Both look so good

I like the thin-ness of the range, and it looks like an armour clad around the wrist. Both are very nice. Sometimes I like a watch so much, I would take the strap option first and buy the bracelet later if i need it. Somehow I prefer the functionality of ...

That's great to hear, sir.

I wish I could find a way to let Bulgari know, he he. Seriously: The boutique I visited could definitely use some more watch targeted traffic. The little buzz there was in the shop was all about jewelry. A sad state of affairs, considering the utter brill...

Missing in action for a while. He has good taste. I think he has an Octa too. Somehow he has the eye for the pieces we all like, or eventually will like.
