I too was intrigued by that when i got interested in bulgari timepieces and what i found was the aggregated of what Ping & Hear349 stated: The company originated in Greece was "bulgari", then they moved & opened shop in Rome where in old Latin characters there were no "U" but only "V" the shop logo was then designed in capital letter in "BVLGARI". it was successful & stated that way since
