I've got a 7037 with the same material/finish (but no nice photos like yours) and it is a real dream. I don't wear it as often as I should--mostly because it feels too noble for me most days! But I couldn't be happier to own it.

I think the yellow gold is maybe the best as it looks most historic but at same time most flashy, and this WG is my close second as it has silver dial, brass colored wheels and blued screws. I got a nice brown Molequin grained calf that dresses it down a ... 

Even though I agree that yellow gold is the most proper material for this watch, in which it looks most thoroughly itself, I knew I would not wear it that way. I've actually owned two La Traditions now, both white gold. The first was a 7027 in white gold ...

Honestly I never knew, I assumed it was called parachute as metaphor that the balance wheel can safely land from drops / shocks.
