I believe I first encountered a 7027 in yellow gold some 7 years ago and was blown by it, at same time I thought that I would have to be some sort of noble to wear a watch like that, I did not become a noble but I did pull trigger for 7057 and honestly the amount of edge amazes me, the parachute is blued, grained with polished edges, wherever you look there is something to admire.

I've got a 7037 with the same material/finish (but no nice photos like yours) and it is a real dream. I don't wear it as often as I should--mostly because it feels too noble for me most days! But I couldn't be happier to own it.

I think the yellow gold is maybe the best as it looks most historic but at same time most flashy, and this WG is my close second as it has silver dial, brass colored wheels and blued screws. I got a nice brown Molequin grained calf that dresses it down a bit but it still feels very special.

Even though I agree that yellow gold is the most proper material for this watch, in which it looks most thoroughly itself, I knew I would not wear it that way. I've actually owned two La Traditions now, both white gold. The first was a 7027 in white gold with black dial and dark decoration--giving it a far more contemporary look. I loved wearing that but realized that I really wanted it to maintain that more historic feel so ended up with one like yours, which I think splits the difference *extremely* well.

It's not parachute but pare-chute.

Honestly I never knew, I assumed it was called parachute as metaphor that the balance wheel can safely land from drops / shocks.
